Can't root nook color

So I've tried cm7, honeycomb, and dual boot honeycomb/phiremod and nothing seems to be working. My nook either doesn't recognize or support certain files on the sd card or it sits at the "android_" screen for forever and never does anything. I've tried different cards, downloaded images and such from different locations, and even tried using a different extracting program. I know this may not be much info to go off of, but if anyone can help or anything I'd really appreciate it!!! Thanks so much!!
