Cant Root?!

Downsides:

1) kills unrevoked (no ShootMe, no wireless tether, etc)
2) stock android launcher gone

You can't root(Jailbreak) the EVO?? How do you Homebrew if you can't root??

First, unrevoked isn't really rooting. It creates an SU user with root privileges.

Second, I've seen nothing to indicate real rooting (see the hacks forum, or the XDA website), has been impacted.

Third, this ain't a Pre (or an iPhone). You can load any program you want, not just those in the market, even without rooting. Most of the things Pre users needed homebrew for you can do without rooting on Android phones.
