Can't save pictures sent in email to my Gallery

I wasn't aware that different attachments appeared differently in gmail. That was the only email with attachments I had, so I incorrectly assumed that an attachment is an attachment.

I also assumed there was a different type of extension on the pics the OP was trying to download since save/download is greyed, which is why I suggested download all files which doesn't care about extensions.

No problem. We're all here to learn and share knowledge. Your suggestion works and at the end of the day all that's important is that we helped the OP out.

Hello cj100570

I am having the same problem as described in the original post. The steps you outlined in post #19 are exactly the same as what I'm seeing until you say "Now, hit the menu button and you should see this. And yes, it is grayish white." when I hit the menu button I see two options "Save" and "Save all" and they are both greyed out (dark grey... not the "greyish" in your picture) and I cannot select either of them.

I tried 3 apps from the play store that claim to assist in downloading gmail attachments, none of them worked.

i have been able to download pictures in the past, I think the gmail app updated around a month ago... I assume it broke then.

Any help would be much appreciated. :)

I have the exact same problem and the perplexing thing is I emailed 2 different screen shots to myself in 2 different emails and the first one allows you to hit menu and save perfectly and the file size is 1mb. The second picture is 847kb and all the options are greyed out when htting the menu. I have tried resending, renaming and even going back and taking new screenshots of the exact same thing and re-emailing but the save and share options are still greyed out.

Verizon Galaxy note 2 and I am baffled and quite frustrated at this point. Been trying for almost 2 hours now!

Hey All, I know this is super old. I have a VZW Galaxy Nexus and had the same problem. It was solved using Astro File Manager. When I got to the screen with all the attachments and hit "Save All", it saved my pictures to the downloads folder, but RENAMED them to -1, -2, -3, etc. Didn't even include an extension. So, I went into Astro File Manager, renamed them to 1.jpg, 2.jpg, 3.jpg, etc., restarted my phone and they showed up in the gallery under the "downloads". Hope that helps!

I just had the same problem but I figured it out. Just clear the cache for the gmail app and the save option will appear.
