Found a thread over at XDA describing the problem being with the Sprint APN MMSC value being wrong.

Is there any way to modify the APN without being rooted? Did I just brick the MMS feature of my phone?

Found out since ICS (4.0) 3rd party apps can't modify APN settings of the phone. The most you can do is run a 3rd party SMS/MMS app that allows you to use your own MMS settings. GoSMSPro is one example, but I don't like the app at all, I just want to use the stock messaging app.

Anyone know any developers that might be able to help?

I believe there's a Voice command in ICS. You can run it and say "Open APN". Then select the carrier and that should give you the APN's.

Could you tell me how to open voice command prompts? All I've seen so far is the app S Voice, which does not recognize this command.

It should be in the Applications. If it's in Alphabetical order then go towards the V's. It looks like a microphone. Just tap on it and it will open and wait for you to say something. That's when you say either "Open APN" or just "APN".

Nope.

From the xda post, 2nd post down: "Background: I bought 2 Galaxy S3's. One had the problem out of the box, and the other was just fine. A friend had a problem as well. It seems some Galaxy S3's may have shipped with a defective APN config setting. Method 1 fix is the "real" fix, but it requires a rooted phone. Method 2 is more of a work around and doesn't require a rooted phone. You must use Go SMS Pro instead of the stock messaging app for SMS/MMS messages."

Thanks but again, I am not rooted anymore, that was the whole point, so Method 1 doesn't apply, and again, I've tried GoSMSPro but I really can't stand it.

Trust me I've scoured the web for a solution. This is going to require a fresh one.

*Update*

Called CREDO mobile, told them MMS stopped working, they sent me instructions on how to edit the APN settings, and told me my MSL # -- which allows me to edit everything else as well. Probably a handy thing for later.

1. From the phone dialer, dial ##3282#.
2. Tap “Edit.”
3. Tap the text field to bring up the keyboard, then enter your MSL (******) from above and tap “OK.”
4. Tap “Others.”
5. Tap “MMSC URL.”
6. Tap “mmsc.” If the URL doesn’t say http://mms.plspictures.com, change it to this.
7. Tap “OK” even if you didn’t need to change the URL.
8. Turn your phone off and back on.

Worked like a charm.

Now I'm looking at all these other settings and seeing sprint URLs and wondering what this stock image from XDA replaced that was set by CREDO to something else originally. :sigh: everything seems to be working though.

Thank You for this!!!

I have a Galaxy S3, I called CREDO this morning with the same problem. Went through this whole procedure with tech support, but she had me put in 'http://mms.pictures.com'. It didn't work. She had me go back and do it again, and it didn't work. So I asked... "shouldn't it have the 'pls' before the 'pictures'? She said yes, that's what she meant to say. And she definitely didn't, because that's what I had been expecting, and was surprised when it was different.

Once it was entered correctly, it "worked like a charm".

A side note: she told me that I had to have wi-fi turned off in order to send MMS messages. But when I finally got the correct URL entered above, I'm able to send MMS messages with wi-fi on no problem. At least so far.....

Thanks again!

I have a Transform Ultra running MegaTron 6.1.1. I have tried all methods above and I have tried APN Backup & Restore from the Google Play Market

2) Download and unzip the Credo-apn.xml from the download link below from this post.

3) Mount your Android mobile device to your computer; at the root of the sdcard, create a folder called "ApnBackupRestore".

4) put the Credo-APN.xml file in the newly created folder and unmount the device.

5) Run APN Backup & Restore,

6) Backup your current APN settings

7) Delete APNs

8) Restore APN and select "Credo-apn.xml"

Please help. Nothing seems to be working
