Hi all

I am trying to get DND to block all notifications but never calls, and it blocks calls anyway.

I have it set to turn on at 2200 and off at 0600.
I ignore the Calls and Messages section, because I don't want to select any contacts - I need all calls to come through, including people not on my contacts list.
Under Also Allow, Calls are set to All, Messages are set to None.
It has never been particularly good at this apparently simple task, but a few versions ago it went from sometimes working (allowing calls but also some notification sounds) to not working at all.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Charlie

You need to not ignore the calls and message area and adjust those to allow all if you want them to come through
I think the settings are a bit confusing on that with the "and also" part afterwards, since under Calls and Messages he'd have to set such to include all contacts (and then it wouldn't let through calls from non contacts)? Not sure.

Or maybe set such to allow all except select contacts, and then don't actually select any contacts to exclude?

There's two options, allow only selected contacts , or allow all except selected contacts. I tried the latter a while ago and it didn't work, so I didn't bother with it. I tried it again today (no contacts selected) and it appears to be doing what it's supposed to. I'll see how it goes.

Cheers :)

Samsungs DND is a mess and confusing. While their intention is good the implementation is awful.

For me this works. In DND;
'Calls and Messages' - Allow Some achieved by;
'Calls and Messages' withing 'Calls and Messages' to 'Allow only selected contacts'

Add the people you want in the list below it to get through.

Under 'Also allow' -> 'Call' - None

Optionally enable allow 'Repeat Callers' for emergencies.

Sometimes I really wonder who QC's this stuff.

Edit:
AND if you have a time set in ANY app, it alters the DND menu. For example Modes And Routines if you have something set to happen between a certain time, DND can no longer see your alarm. Same goes for Tasker, Macrodroid and anything else where time based tasks can be set.

ANNNNDDD Samsung Keyboard keeps a copy of everything you copy and paste even if it's not set as your keyboard. Off topic but part of my now rant.

I'm glad the OP got things working for their need.

Very odd/interesting about what happens with the settings menus when a time is used. I think that's really screwy (and explains what seemed odd to me with what someone else posted as the settings they have available in a related thread).

I think this is terrible, and maybe a security issue (or at best/worst a security awareness issue). I guess from Samsung's perspective their keyboard is core to their OS, as maybe even required through which any other keyboard apps function? Is that similar for stock Android, a default built-in Android keyboard even before other third-party keyboard apps like GBoard? Sorry, off thread topic indeed, but I wasn't aware.
