Can't skip song from lock screen or Bluetooth headphones

I'm on android 9 on a note9 and when I try to skip a song from lock screen it plays the animation for the button click however it does nothing, I have to unlock my phone and go into Spotify to skip the song and when I do that the first time I click it, sometimes detects two clicks as if the one on the lock screen was registered but delayed. Same with pause button. It is very irritating to have to unlock my phone to skip a song. It happens the same way with my headphones as well.

Yup, just noticed that on mine. Don't have another music player to try, however, and my phone hasn't updated the system in a while, so this must have been a bug introduced with a Spotify update because I'm pretty sure I could do that before.

I'm not on Pie yet, so this bug is also on Oreo.

Go to notifications, choose spotify and go to playback. Change notification style to "sound and pop-up". This fixed the lock screen issue for me. (I have no issue with my bluetooth headphones, so can't help you there).

Also, your music app will most likely let you do that without going into settings. Both Poweramp and Google Play Music let me skip in both directions from the lockscreen.

So this is definitely a Spotify bug, right?
