Can't stand Lollipop.. How do I go back to KitKat?

Hey guys,

Firstly the phones is a S5, and I only have basic knowledge of 'Androids'
And I just can't stand the new Lollipop OS.

I've read elsewhere about 'Wiped system with the option in cwm'
'Reboot to download mode and flash modem and bootloader'

But to be honest I have no idea what this means.
I want to know if there is any cons to going back to KitKat, but I just can't stand Lollipop for any longer. (updated this morning)

If it's relevant, I really hate the white backgrounds, the new notification dropbox and the multi colour icons. Plus the new sounds. Far to girly for my liking.
Petty I know, but each to their own.

Is there anyway to get KitKat back?

Welcome to the forums. You can try flashing the stock ROM onto your device with a PC program called Odin. You would need to get your files from either Sammobile, or Samsung updates. Just look for the exact model number, with your region code. The region code should be on your original box in the serial number. Another way to get it is to look on Kies, a PC program developed by Samsung.

Once you get your files, you can use Odin to flash the ROM. This most likely will wipe the device, so back everything up you don't want to lose.

I would also suggest looking for YouTube videos and such, in case there are additional steps for your particular model.

Hey, thank you both for the replies.

I have a Samsung S5.

Haalcyon I've also posted the same question on a different thread that you've replied to, I didn't think I would get any replies here.

I didn't know you could change the launcher, or icons for that matter. I don't expect you can change Lollipop to look just like KitKat can you?
Basically I just hate change, especially for the worst (in my opinion Lollipop is) and I want the old look back.

If something's not broke, don't fix it is what I'm getting at basically.

OP can change it via MoNa to MyAndroidRocks.

I think they are valid points and I am not eager for Lollipop, but at least they plan a dark theme, or so I read.

That does sound quite technical for some novice like me..
But if there are step by step videos on YouTube I guess it would be quite hard to muck something up.

Haha! I couldn't think of anything, I haven't used a forum for years!
No I hope to stay here, I mean I'm not going back to iOS.... I can tell you that for free.

I think I'm going to use Kies 3.0, it seams the safest/easiest option for me.
I've backed everything up, is it as simple as clicking on Tools, Firmware Upgrade and Initialization?

Because after clicking, it says "the latest software version will be installed" ..Surely it'll just install Lollipop again?
