I cannot figure out how to take a screen shot... I swipe my hand across the screen like I used to on my Note 2 and S3 and nothing happens... Hit the power and home button... Nothing... Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Have to hold the buttons for a couple seconds. It's not instantaneous.

Re: Can't take screen shot?

I did turn on motion and I did hold it down for several seconds

Re: Can't take screen shot?

HI everyone.. I also just purchased my Samsung galaxy s4. I tried to do the screenshot capture by pressing the home button and the power at the same time for 2 seconds, but it doesn't capture any screenshot. I also tried doing the motion gesture by swiping my hand across the screen, (the setting is already turned ON), but no screenshot captured. Is there any settings that I still need to do?? something wrong on my phone? please help thanks!

Re: Can't take screen shot?

If you watch one of the videos on YouTube it may help. Also, check your gallery for a folder called screenshots. You may have taken the screenshots and not known

Pls check the Settings... Put the Motion Settings enable. I am sure you will be able to take screenshot.

Re: Can't take screen shot?

Its a little tricky and took a few tries to gdt it right. I had to press the home and power button at the same time and hold both for 2 seconds. If you press the home then the power it doesnt work. The key is pressing both at the same time.

Re: Can't take screen shot?

To reiterate what others have said:

Just press home and power at the same time, and hold them until you see the notification in the top bar. It works consistently for me - just make sure you press both at the same time.

On the other hand, the gesture of swiping your palm across the screen is total gimmicky crap. Don't waste your time with that and disable it. Never look back.

Re: Can't take screen shot?

2 ways to get screen shot.

1. Press and hold the home and power "at the same time!" for 2 seconds.

2.Turn on the screen capture at:
Settings > My device > Motions and gestures > Palm motion > Screen Capture

You need to swipe the side of your hand on the screen from left to right or vice versa. Note: Be sure that your hand will be touching the screen, if not it will not work.

Re: Can't take screen shot?

The power + home button doesn't work. If I hold the home menu eventually takes me to the task manager, regardless of the power button being pressed or not. The hand gesture worked great one I read the comment that you have to actually touch the screen. A small detail.... I HATE this phone...

Re: Can't take screen shot?

Didn't work for me. Went to Settings -> My device -> Display, and unclicked Edit after screen capture. Now it works, and wonders of wonders, after a screen capture it asks in the status area if I want to edit.

Re: Can't take screen shot?

Thanks this worked fine. On Galaxy S4 Mini the home+power button work, but tricky as mentioned before. The hand gestures don't work well.

I cannot make this work no matter what combo I do. I've tried all, it's like the background app is not running that senses it or something. I even tried installing "Capture Screen Plus" but it said to do the same procedure, which still didn't work.

I have a Droid Mini XT1030 with 4.4
I am running ART, could that be a problem?

This series of instructions worked for me on my new 4s. On my old one it was there automatically, which may be the confusion when people get a new phone. The home/power button hold also worked, but as mentioned must be done simultaneously to work.
