Android Central Question

1. Why can't I just place my thumb where the home button used to be (bottom of the screen) and then the screen would light up? It is used to work for my S8+. It was so much physically easier on my hands than having to press the power button on my thick case.
2. Also, how can I make my notifications appear on my home locked screen so I don't have to press anything to see who it is from?

Have you considered Always On Display and/or Double Tap to Wake?

Double tap would allow you to tap the screen, twice as the name indicates, and the screen would light up showing your notifications. It's under Advanced features>Gestures.

Always on display, AOD, is just that, always on. It shows notifications, time and a few other things that can be customized under the AOD settings. It can be set on a schedule also so that it's available when you would most use it. Your screen isn't just ON it's a dimmer on but I think it brightens if you tap or touch the screen.

I think you can just push where the FPS is. That's what I do. Maybe there is a setting to make it skip the lock screen that has to be set?

Thanks for both the replies! I didn't realize the double tap was a thing, that should do. I'm not into the AOD just because I feel like it might not be healthy for the phone in the long term?

If anyone can find a setting that allows for me to see the texts and notifications without me having to click on them while on the lock screen let me know!

Always on display is just fine. The software moves the text just a bit consistently to avoid any burn in issues. As for viewing the notfications without having to click on them, go to settings > lock screen > notifications > view style.

I love you. Thanks!!
