Can't Turn On Wi-Fi when on Airplane Mode

Ok so before, everything was absolutely normal, i could turn on airplane mode on my android phone and then turn on my wifi however ever since last week, the only way i could turn on wifi was if i turned off airplane mode. it would be great if someone could help thanks!!
My Phone is a HTC One M8 and no updates ever since then. Android 6.01

I forgot to add, last week, this issue started when I was listening to music and then screen suddenly whited out and then the phone somewhat came back to normal but the task bar (the drag down notifications area) order of the quick access settings were all jumbled and ever since that happened, I have to turn off airplane mode to turn on wifi. No lmfao. You could always turn on wi-fi when you turn on airplane mode. a lot of people dont know this oop...i mean come on lol

I always activate Airplane Mode and then manually enable Wifi.

For your issue though, have you tried doing a factory reset?

Yep, that's what I always do however, it doesn't work anymore. No unfortunately i have not done a factory reset as I have like tonnes of files and data i do not want to lose. :/ unless its the only way

Airplane mode is designed to kill all radioo including WiFi, if you could turn it on before that was a fault, it is working as intended now...

WiFi doesn't just receive, it has to transmit. The entire point of aircraft mode is to turn off all broadcasting. You're mistaken to think it worked before.

Well I just learned something. I thought that you could not use any kind of data communication in airplane mode also so I tested it on my LG G5 RS988 running 7.0. Yes it does turn cell/wifi/bluetooth off when you turn the mode on, then I went to setting and switched on wifi. It then connected now I'm posting now in airplane mode.

Yes, I have heard of WiFi being usable while in Airplane Mode.

I have exactly the same problem with my HTC One M8. Earlier, when I turned on airplane mode, I could turn on Wifi and Bluethoot manually. It worked well and I used it often. One time my phone rebooted itself (it was not a system upgrade), and after reboot the function of turning on wifi/BT in airplane mode stopped working. I care about it, because I often used wifi and bluethoot in airplane mode.

Has anyone found a solution to this problem without a hard reset?
I prefer to avoid reinstalling the application and transferring data.

However, if a hard reset is necessary, does it really solve this problem?

I found information on this forum to try wiping the cache partition.
I tried but unfortunately it did not solve the problem, so the topic is still active

Guys,I have this problem too,do you know app that's called WI-FI Analyzer before android 9 this app work perfectly and after android 9 the app partially working and my phone got update to Android 10 the app cant detect my wifi anymore the app says Location Need to be turned on i try this and the wifi can connect even i was in Airplane mode unfortunately the app continue to not working but the app is helping me to connect to wifi at airplane mode My Phone: NOKIA 6.1 PLUS. Sorry my english awful sorry again if this solution not working to your phone

Welcome to Android Central! You'd probably have to contact the Wi-Fi Analyzer developer and ask if they're aware of this Android 10 issue.
