Can't txfr files with Kies - says Tab is no longer responding

I decided to try using Kies to transfer files (videos) to my Tab. It didn't work. As soon as I started the transfer, it would say something like the tablet stop responding or is not connected anymore. My tablet was on. Anyone know how to get around this? I'd love to be able to transfer files direct through my USB cable.
