Can't unroot using OneClick Uninstaller

I rooted my Epic to obtain Wireless Tether using One Click Root Exploit 2.4.0. I'm now trying to unroot to stock so that I can upgrade to new Froyo.

I'm running stock d18 unrooted, no rom installed.

I have tried using the OneClick Stock and Uninstaller 1.0.1, selecting run.bat.

It runs, says wait 60 sec, then finishes. However, it looks like I'm still rooted.
Rooted apps still work.

Cannot download into recovery and update the new Froyo, stops installation.

So, can someone advise me, and I'm sure others, how to do this to enable upgrade.

And I will thank you with The Button.

pretty sure it doesnt matter if your rooted or not. Just use the update.zip on your memory card and install from the standard recovery screen. Your not able to get the standard recovery screen?

if you look under the roms and hacks section, there's threads for roms on xda that can be updated with root

I got to Recovery Screen, ran update.zip from card (had dragged and dropped), it opens to Recover, select apply sdcard:update.zip.

It finds, opens, and verifies update package then
E: failed to open (No such file or directory)
F: signature verification failed.
Installation aborted

I have looked info flashing over at XDA, but don't really want to go that direction, nervous about Odin/Tar files.

Since I used One Click Root, just want to remove that, return to stock, then do Upgrade so not everything is lost off phone. I hate hard resets, so this is what would happen.

Using Odin and tar/pit files is an extremely easy process. It will make things a lot easier if you use this method. If you post in that thread I will help walk you through and answer any questions.

ragnorokx,
I was just reading that forum and considering the ramifications. I will read through those posts.

I am just frustrated, had held on rooting waiting for OTA. This is actually the first phone I hadn't rooted (Pre, Windows, Hero) because i like the system and didn't want custom rom. But needed Wireless Tether, and am
still hesitant to upgrade in case I lose that.

I had assumed one click would un-root, but guess not. I also see a version of Tether is allegedly working, so will read and try it,.

Thanks to you, will see you over there.

If you follow the procedure in that link, it will upgrade your phone to a pre-rooted version of Froyo, so you'll be ready for Wireless Tether out of the box.
