Can't use camera while on a phone call!!?

The other day i tried to take a picture while i was on a call and the pop up message came up saying the camera cant be accessed while on a call. why!!?? this is my first at&t android phone where i couldnt use the camera while on a phone call. anyone know a fix or a setting so i am able to use my camera on a call?

I can't do it on Sprint either.

EDIT: I couldn't do it on JB, so I just tried it on KK and it worked! So you CAN use the camera while on a call, at least on Sprint. Cool.

I'd never tried that before, but I just tried it (running the new OTA 4.4.2 KitKat) and the camera starts up fine during a phone call.

Nope. My phone isn't rooted. (But it does have KitKat.)

Mine just worked perfectly fine on JB non-rooted.

Mine works just fine, just tried it on a brand new note 3, about 3 hours old. What version are you running? I'm on NB4.
