Can't use custom pictures

When I first got this watch (2015 360) I was able to use custom photos for backgrounds. Now it just crashes. I've tried through the watch, and the two moto apps. I've factory restored my phone and my watch. Nothing works. Is this a common issue? I've just worked around it with custom watch faces from Google play but I'm curious if anyone had a solution. Thanks!

Happens to me too on my 360 1st gen. (using moto x 2014).
App always crashes when trying to use a custom picture.
