Has anybody had any issues with the capacitive button lights?
I installed the latest Sprint software update any right after that I started have issues with lights going dim.
When I touch them they stay dim, they will get bright for a while and then goes dim again.
I have tried having them stay on while screen is on and they are still dim.
I have increased screen brightness but still dim.
Reset the phone and problem still exist.
Is this a physical problem and just coincidence that it happened right after update?
Phone is one week old.

Not here, but I'm not in sprint. Does sound like it's related to the update. Calling both sprint and HTC to report it will increase the chances of it being fixed in a future update.

Slightly off topic. I have Sprint and my friend has Verizon. His captive button lights are wayyyyy brighter than me. My screen is sharp and his is tianma. Anyone else notice this? If you have another phone from a different carrier to compare with?

After further observation I have noticed that my problem only occurs at night and only under certain lighting conditions. Its almost as if there is some kind of sensor affecting the navigation keys back light. I think I am going to get an exchange.

There is a sensor that picks ambient light. I. E bright light will make the buttons brighter. Dim lighting will make buttons dim.
What I do is keep the button lighting on when screen is on.
By testing the brightness applied to the light sensor (top left bezel) I found there is 3 brightness levels for the buttons.

I do have button lights on when screen on. I think I had a defective phone/light sensor. If the light sensor is covered or if its dark the button lights actually turn off and even tapping the area where the buttons are they did not light up. Anyway returned the phone & currently waiting for my replacement.

I have the same problem. I originally noticed the problem with Google Music using Equalizer then more often since then. No consistent trigger. The temporary fix is to power off then restart.
