Capcative buttons

I want to love this phone, BUT....

My very first smart phone was an HTC. I was so excited to see the 10 come out and had high hopes. However, less than 4 hours in and I am so confused and disappointed.

1. I do not understand the lack of a photo gallery.

2. I do not like that my apps, like Facebook and Twitter and Instagram do not have notification counters on the icons on my home screen.

3. For some reason, my SD card doesn't read on here. I have tried a million ways and nothing. Not my music. Not my photos. Not my documents. Nothing.

4. I feel the capcacitive buttons are opposite of what is comfortable for me and I can't switch them.

Alot of these things may be because I haven't used an HTC since the M7 and I am not fluent in HTC anymore. But, I feel like there is limited information on how to fix these or work around these annoyances. And again, these are all my personal opinion. This may be an awesome phone for someone who really knows their way around Sense and HTC devices.

Just picked up today. One problem is the buttons on the bottom are backwards for me. Can I change this?

So many questions

1. Where are the photos I take- I don't see a photo gallery or anything?

2. I inserted my SIM card but don't know where to see the content from it?

If you can root you can remap them, but they'll still look like they do now. I'm assuming you're coming from a Samsung device - the HTC button order is technically correct and Samsung does it backwards, but either way - that's one of the biggest problems with capacitive or hardware buttons - they're fixed in place. Software keys can be moved, resized, modified, changed out, replaced - anything you want.

There's no app called Photos? What do you mean by "content" on the SIM card?

Re: So many questions

The only thing I can find is Google Photos. I guess I will have to get used to it. I have an SD card in the slot, but it isn't showing up anywhere. When I check the storage, it only shows the internal storage details? I am coming from a Samsung. So my photos went to the gallery and I could edit them immediately.

And my Facebook icon on my home screen doesn't show my notification counter? On my Samsung, I can see how many notifications I have on FB and other apps.

Backwards from an aesthetic point of view. Not necessarily from a functional point of view. For many people, me included, "backwards" means more comfortable to use.
It has long been my contention that Google should make the navigation buttons user definable.

Google Photos is the gallery.
