I love how fast this GN charges up in the car. I can play with it all day.... take it down to 10%.... then on my hour commute home it is charged fully up. SWEET!

you must have a pretty fast charger! how many amps is it? i just bought a 2.1 amp charger and it is really fast. when i look up the battery stats, it even says "Charging (AC)" instead of USB like my previous 1 amp charger.
I've only tested my charger once. In 30 minutes I got a 16% charge, but with the screen on, navigation on with GPS chip running, and 4G (wi-fi & bluetooth off). (I wanted to see if I could use the navigation and still charge the phone, which I couldn't with my 1A charger).

It's just the stock Verizon car charger... maybe the bumper to bumper on the 405 helps the fast charge.... LOL

I have not gotten a car charger yet, but I remember reading in one review (The Verge, or Engadget I can't remember) that with LTE and Navigation going, the car charger they were using could not keep up. I assume a 2.1 amp charger wouldn't have problems but it would be interesting to know other folks expierences.

I have the Verizon car charger for my Gnex. I did a test this AM. Battery was 60% I connected the car charger and used the Navigation and drove 20 miles to work. When I got to work the battery was 85%.

So the Verizon charger works good.

Is that the one with the extra USB port on top? That's the only one that comes up when I search on their site.

I bought the Verizon bundle that had a case and car charger. Plugged it up at 58% and within 15 minutes or so, it was up to 71%. I was impressed.

Does anyone know how to find a cable for charging that will charge in AC mode?

I bought this cable thinking it would work well. I have a charger that came with the Costco bundle. When plugged into an outlet with the original Costco cable I get fast AC charging, then, using the same charger, I swapped cables for this new one from Amazon and got USB charging. The printing on these cables doesn't seem too helpful, I had an old one that said 100W which charged too slow, the Costco cable says 300W, and this new one from Amazon doesn't have any of that information on it at all.

I've seen that there are "rapid chargers" and read about people soldering pins, but I just want to be able to identify what I'm buying and find a cable that will work as AC, USB takes way too long. I've searched for "rapid charging cables", "charging only cable", etc...but am not finding anything that can confirm how a cable with charge. I don't care if it transfers data or not.

I also bought an HTC car charger that I think was recommended in this forum, people had tested it and it was providing enough power to charge the phone while navigating, streaming, etc...but that won't matter if my cable is restricting me to 500 mAH.

Thanks so much for any help, I've been searching for a few days to find information on cables and can't seem to get anywhere. :)

FWIW, Marshalls has a "droid" charger for $7.99 that includes a generic DC-to-USB converter and a micro-USB cable. It charges the GNex in AC mode very well.
