when using the car mount, my aux doesn't work..was wondering if there is a planned fix for this as my time to return it is running out.

also, plugging straight into the aux will allow music to play through my speakers but when directions interrupt, it uses the phone speaker which is inaudible..any ideas?

For the first issue, I'm pretty sure I had read on this forum that there is a sticker that is over that port on the car mount that states it won't become active for use until the phone is upgraded to 2.2. Can anyone else confirm?

Yeah, my home dock has the sticker over the port that says it won't work until 2.2 is released. I'm sure the car dock has the same thing.

2.2 on the dock.

not sure why you aren't getting audio out of the speakers for prompts. FWIW it works just find for me.

do you still get prompts via speakers when playing music? i haven't really tried it without music player running. maybe another music prog will work better?

i didn't see a sticker on the car dock stating that..hopefully that is the case

I guess I'm confused about what the car mount's purpose is and why auxiliary out wouldn't work. When I have my phone in my car, I plug in the phone to charge and my 3.5mm output is going to my car's cassette deck converter.

I had thought that the car mount is really just a charger that somehow signals to the phone to launch the car dock app so that controls are easier to access while driving. Are you saying that the mount uses a different phone input to charge and output audio and that's why the mount needs 2.2 to output audio?

Couldn't you just plug into the 3.5mm output instead of the mount itself? I was just about to go out to the Verizon store to exercise my 25% off accessories discount but this has given me pause.

While in the mounts from what I understand it disables the 3.5mm port. The samsung dock (at least the home one) had a 3.5mm port on the back which is covered by a sticker, so you can plug headphones in or better speakers after 2.2. The sound would be trasmitting from the same plug as the power is going through. (Nothing new really, IPOD has been doing it for years) As for the knowing whether or not the phone goes to car mode or dock mode, there are magnets in the dock that interact with the phone in a certain way that signal the change. Hope that helps and we probally wont know more till after 2.2..... unless someone has the inside scoop.

Thanks for the reply. I think I understand this now. Unfortunately, until 2.2 comes out, it sounds like this car dock actually lessens the functionality of the phone. I don't think this would of been too much of a problem if the speaker phone audio wasn't so low as it is.

the mount allows you to plug charger and 1/8 aux jack into it so that you can quickly connect the phone for charging and audio. as of now, aux on the mount doesn't work, but supposedly should with froyo update.

plugging aux directly into phone plays music, but while playing music, though it pauses my music for prompts, it doesn't give directions through the car speaker..some are reporting that it does for them..

if anyone able to play music and get directions through aux simultaneously, can you report what music & nav app you're using?

i'm using google navigation and tune wiki

This is a little off subject. When im driving I usually listen to pandora. I have my phone plugged in via aux cable. When I go to make a phone call I can hear who im calling the the speakers but my microphone doesnt work. Very annoying! Does anyone know the fix for this?

So, I will still get music and podcasts through the car speaks when docked(provided I use the 3.5mm jack) but when the nav kicks in it's through speakerphone only?

I might be able to live with that considering I'm not all that thrilled with the phone navigating from the passenger seat either.

If you use the phone's aux jack, you should hear all audio through the stereo and nothing through the phone's speaker.
