Do any of you use a mount in your car that holds your cell phone? I was looking into getting one of those for my note 5 and was curious what anybody else used it was decent.

I'll probably look for a suction cup style mount that sticks to dash and holds the phone. I drive a van and like the phone closer to me than the windshield mount would allow

Also- vent mounts are always a bad choice!

Why do you say that? I love my magnetic vent mount. Only complaint is it doesn't hold well with the OtterBox Symmetry but that's a case design issue because it works well with the commuter.

I recently tried a vent mount, but it totally blocked my vent and the plate I put into my case nullified wireless charging and Samsung Pay so I had to take it out.

I've ordered the following one and am due to receive it tomorrow.

I use this, was wary of vent mounts as well but window mount is too far and I didn't want to mar the dash with any adhesive, vent has been fine...

Wireless Quick Charge works great, I've had an issue with regular charge where if I'm using GPS and streaming music through Bluetooth I'm running at a power deficit while charging, with this I can do all of that and still get a full charge. Charges through my Speck case...

I won't use the magnet mounts, I've heard they screw with the screen, making dead spots where you can't write.

I get that. I just swap the phone into a different case to mount it in the car and then back to my normal case when I'm not driving.

I have a CD mount for our other car that has a CD player, it's real sturdy, flawless, but I put an aftermarket in my pick up and there is no CD slot. The iOttie dash mount is perfect for me it keeps the phone close enough to operate and I plugged an Anker Bluetooth adapter into the head unit for hands free.

I made a holder for my Note 5 from plexiglass. It attaches to a disc on the dash with a suction cup. I took the coils out of a wireless charger and put it behind the holder. Now, I just drop the phone in and it charges while I drive and use it.
