is there any card I can play in order to return my thunderbolt and then possibly exchange it for a samsung charge ? I am to the point where I don't even enjoy my thunder bolt anymore and would even rather go back to my droid x . I go to vegas for a bachelor party in 10 days and I'm severely worried about having my thunderbolt with it's terrible battery life with the extended or regular battery .

Yeah pay the early termination fee......lol....seriously doubt it bro, you prob will have to buy Charge at full retail....try to sell your bolt to cut into the price.....or you can always try you luck with Big Red, but I would seriously not hold my breath, remember this phone is barely a month old, and they have to recoup thier money.....good luck to you!

it just drives me nuts I spent all this money on the flagship device and accessories and it is not meeting its standards .

If I did that in my line at work I would be fired asap or required to give back a refund for the services that I promised and I could not fulfill.

in all seriousness thanks for the reply

I'd go with the card that VZW advertises the tb as 330hrs standby. I don't think anyone can get that, even with the phone never being in use and mobile data turned off. So, tell them that you heard that there was going to be an update, so you waited but now, after the update, you still don't get 330hurs standby, not even 10% (or 20% or whatever it may be), so the phone you have is defective. you can say that you do not think a new tb would give you 330hrs on standby, so you would like to get the phone which people are getting better battery life on. if not, you will keep exchanging thunderbolts until you get 330hrs standby as promised.

Usage: 378 mins OR
Standby: 330 hours

That's what a 14 day return policy window is for...not trying to be a ******.
If you make it sound like you're just trying to return the phone for the "next best thing" the Charge...good luck.
I wouldn't even mention that. I'd stick to the battery life argument, as said.

I have been talking with V for several weeks trying to fix bugs and now that the update didn't they are sending me a new bolt. At least they are trying. That is after a free 2nd battery too. If it does not fix the issues i would suspect they will suggest another phone not that I want one. HTC and V are kind of morons to ship a phone with so many obvious bugs and an undersized battery. I hope someone is looking for a new job.

You should easily be able to sell your bolt and accessories for close to if not more than the cost of a charge. I would list it on here, ebay and craiglist. You'll easily get $500+

Hey op try that gingerbread rom that xda has. Heard it helps battery life drastically.

Im curious you said you spent all this money on it. how much did you spend? I bought mine full retail. I have called vzw on an unrelated issue ONCE. That was when the outage happened. I was probably among the first hundred to have called it in. Other than that have not replaced my tb or gotten batteries from vzw.

Spending what i spent for the device and added accessories i could not be happier. As adrynalyne himself said. He would not walk but run away from the charge. Due to its file management system.

**Edit**
Ok so the gb rom is also posted here on ac in the rooting roms thread.

To be honest, you will have the same battery with Charge. You all realize the more people like the OP get phone ADD like this, the more restrictive carriers get on getting different phones.

If I had a penny for all the people I see trying to call in fishing for the "cooler" thing... Ala iPhone... I would be bloody rich. We grant exceptions on RARE occasions based upon your loyalty... If you've been with us for 20 years and can suffer the time to pay your bill we MIGHT be able to swing it. If you just opened an account 3 months ago and missed every payment, forget it. It's getting harder to do so because people take advantage of generosity too often and the suits are noticing.

You said you had a DX too? So why not sell both if you really want the Charge? I sold my DX in a day for $220 on CL. I played with Charge and build quality compared to Tbolt isn't something I would want, too light and plastic feel. Screen? I'm happy with mine, to each their own on screens. Some swear by SAplus and others by qHD? Good luck on getting Verizon to take the bait.

Glad VZ still does care to fix issues on the matter of resolving things for customers who just have bad luck. It is easy to sit there and enjoy a phone if you had no problems and after getting off phone with a rep and her supervisor they both actually thanked me for being so calm and not yelling at them. I couldn't help but laugh at the thankless amount of work Customer Service reps get as well as Tech Support. In the end after owning tons of devices sometimes you just need to chalk it up that there will be issues. Did I plan on going through nearly 8 devices? NO Did I spend last month getting passed around and call backs didn't happen? Yes.

My point is if you sincerely are just not happy with the device as previously mentioned why they give the 14 days. Now if you had send back a phone or had one replaced in store due to similar issues you have that would offer you more leverage. First thing I was offered after waiting the callback from Sup in CO branch was "Do you still even want the Thunderbolt or would you like to try the Charge cause of all your bad luck? It hadn't even crossed my mind because I had moto blur and while I love the Display I much prefer HTC.

So my questions to you are how far are you out of your 14 day promise? Did you get phone on release?

How much contact have you made to VZ to tell them your battery life is horrible?

Have you been having the random reboot issue due to the OTA update that would be good leverage to tack on to the battery life issue.

Just be honest with them and let them know the sincere issues you are having and just ask them what can you offer me to get me into a device that works better for me. Supervisor I spoke to today stated he has the TB and his roomate and they are getting endless calls on battery life complaints and this is why for nearly a month the ext battery has been out of stock.

You get a charge, sure you get better battery, but you'll lose all the functionality the TBolt offers. Not to mention, it's a SAMSUNG droid charge. Meaning you probably won't see Gingerbread until Ice Cream Sandwhich is leaked lol. Im happy with my bolt. If GB helps battery, it will be perfect. Theres not another phone out there i would want.

I had the same problems with the battery. YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE TO ROOT THE PHONE TO GET DECENT BATTERY LIFE but that is what I ended up doing. On bamf 1.6.3 and I get about 20 hours out of a charge with a good amount of use. 15+ phone calls a day, over 100text and navigation but when i run navigation it is plugged in.

The acknowledgement is appreciated. Cheers.

Hahaha I kind of wonder if you were talking to me... I was actually saying that to a customer that escalated a call to me a while ago. Update: Battery life has taken a backseat to network complaints.

Are you saying that they give a free extended battery to people who complain enough about the battery?

Not necessarily. We have made exceptions, but I will say do not count on that unless you have had an account open for a long time and never miss a payment.

Even that is no guarantee.

If you are having battery issues with the extended battery, you have something more than just "battery issues" going on. I took my phone on a trip with me, left my laptop at home, used my phone all day long and was still getting more than a days worth of use out of the phone (usually 1.5-2 days). At a minimum I would ask for a replacement if you can't get a full day's use out of the extended battery.
