Careful when you trade in a phone with Gazelle to upgrade to the Note 20

I had a Note 10+. Perfect condition. Was in a good case from minute 1. Gazelle quoted me $365. Fine. I package it up really well, and in fact kept the case on the phone.

I get an email back that my phone has "multiple scratches, and is missing buttons", and that they'll only give me $85. BS. I call their support, and they tell me sometimes the rep mistakenly applies the value to another customer's phone, and that they'll inspect it again.

They get back to me, and now they say it isn't scratched or missing buttons, but the stylus is missing, and the offer is still decreased to $85. I told them if the stylus was missing, it is because the person doing the inspection lost it or it came out in the box in shipping and they didn't notice.

It took a lot of back and forth, but they finally relented and paid me the $365, but geez. What a hassle. Makes me think twice about using Gazelle again.

Dang that sucks all the hurdles they put you through. I'll make sure not to sell anything to them in the future. I typically sell and occasionally buy from Decluttr and haven't had any issues.

Sorry to hear of hassle .. just curious why you went that way ... Offer seems too low for the Note 10+

It's really odd. I've probably sold a dozen devices to them over the years, and never had a problem, but this really has made me question using them again if the service has slid like that.

It's actually a fair price, when you consider the $500 that the carriers are giving is in the form of a credit every month for two years, and if you upgrade your phone after a year (like I always do), then you forfeit the entire second year of credits... Which means they're really only giving you $250, spread out over monthly credits for a year.

That's too cheap for that phone you could of gotten better money at a carrier or best buy.
I just tried gazelle for the same phone they offered 428

Man that does seem low doesn't it. Samsung was/is offering $650 for the Note 10+ on trade and I have seen them selling on Swappa for $750.

Yes I never go the carrier way on credits agree ... I would accept the BestBuy trade in value like I've done before or sell on Swappa ., Mint condition Note + going for about $600 on Swappa .. I know some people don't like having to sell ... Understand

Yeah trade in $650 plus you save on taxes ... I took the less price for the Fold 2 of $500 on it bc I didn't want to sell since it's almost around what I would get back after paypal and shipping ...

Not if you order through Samsung though. Also I think they sell for more on Swappa.

I won't use them again. They did this to me and I keep my phones like new.

Never again. You'd think with all these carriers now taking away business from them, by accepting trade ins, that they'd run a tighter ship and treat the dwindling remaining customers right.

True. I don't have an issue with them offering a wholesale type price. I mean, I understand they have to make money. But when the initial offer is a wholesale price and then they try to lower it even more once the device is in hand, it just feels planned. My device didn't have a blemish. I don't doubt that they do this to everyone.

Before sending a trade in , take picks of the phone or tablet. Video of the unit booting up and video of you packing it to ship out. I have been lucky so far but I have heard the stories so this is what I do now.

It's inexcusable for them to have put you through the wringer like that. Thank you for giving a heads-up to everyone.
