There are a lot of threads and web links on Carrier IQ and a few that show which devices are known to NOT have this installed but I have been unable to find a unified list of those devices and ROMs showing their status with respect to Carrier IQ. Rather than have every single person download and run the detection software - I think it would be helpful to list in one place the models/carriers/ROM's that are known to be infested with this software.

Ideally each person posted should provide web source for the info and/or logs if this is from their personal phone. We can try to have the mods sticky this and keep this first post updated also.

Phones that appear to have Carrier IQ Installed:
HTC EVO 4G (Sprint) confirmed here - at about 16 mins into the video
HTC EVO 3D (Sprint) confirmed here
Motorola Atrix 2 (Carrier not specified) rumored here See post by AlphaDog about 10 posts down - no detailed logs posted; also reported on Gizmodo.
LG Optimus S (Sprint) NOT STOCK; Rooted and running gROM 2.2; possibly confirmed - detected with Voodoo tool which has problems with false positives.
WARNING - LG Optimus S Phone (above) was unable to boot after attempted manual removal of Carrier IQ!
Samsung Epic 4G Touch (Sprint ?) Stock ROM - CIQ confirmed See video based on Voodoo tool
Samsung Epic 4G (Sprint ?) Stock ROM - CIQ confirmed See video based on Voodoo tool
Samsung Exhibit II (T-Mobile) Voodoo reported Carrier IQ elements but they appear to be inactive. Prepaid Stock phone.
LG Thrive (AT&T; LG Optimus One) Carrier IQ detected according to Lookout's app.

Phones that appear to NOT have Carrier IQ Installed:
Motorola Droid 2 Global (VZW) Verified personally via Logging Test App & Voodoo (Detection Score 0)
Motorola Droid 2 (VZW) Multiple Claims; Need good source
Motorola Droid X (VZW) Multiple Claims; Need good source
Motorola Bionic (VZW) Screenshot in this thread
Motorola Photon 4G (Sprint) See video
Motorola Atrix (AT&T) Reported on Gizmodo and via Voodoo in post #8 below.
Samsung Galaxy (VZW) Scanned and found clean; details here.
Samsung Galaxy S Stratosphere (VZW) Clean - verified later in this thread.
Samsung Transform (Sprint) CIQ not found - unclear what tool was used. Reported later in this thread.
Samsung Galaxy Note (Factory Unlocked; UK, 16GB, black) No Carrier IQ detected
HTC Inspire 4G (AT&T) does not have "carrier IQ"; reported later in this thread; detection method not specified.

In many cases it may be necessary to cite the carrier as well so I have added this information above.

Is this in the wrong place? I'm surprised no one has commented on this or added any information.

I ran the voodoo Carrier IQ detection software this morning. My Optimus S listed several instances of carrier IQ running on the phone. I'm rooted and running gROM 2.2. Link to voodoo.... https://market.android.com/details?id=org.projectvoodoo.simplecarrieriqdetector

Which carrier; Sprint right? I can't keep up with all the models of these things :). My understanding of that tool is that they are having problems with false positives. You might try the original tool linked in the first post. I'll update the first post with this info and note that it is unconfirmed by the original tool.

Also just an added FYI... I deleted the program and the library files and my phone no longer booted.

YIKES! Let us know if you are able to get it back working. I assume this means you used Voodoo to do the deletion of Carrier IQ or did you find and delete these modules yourself?

I restored a backup and re ran the grom install and all is well. For now.... I'm planning on messing with this a little more to find out how to at least stop the service from starting.

I ran the Voodoo app on my Motorola Atrix on AT&T and nothing came up. However there is a app called KPI Logger Service that seems to have full access to everything on my phone. Don't know if that is something to be weary of.

Another user used this tool xda-developers - View Single Post - [DEV|APPv7] CIQ / HTC & Google Checkin / HTC loggers / Tell HTC Info & Removal as reported earlier - they found Carrier IQ on theirs. Could you retest with that tool? You'll need to be root to do it.

Yes Sprint... also I manually removed the files... not the tool. Voodoo just reports on what it found.

We went around the IT department and tested the personal phones we had... appears that several HTC phones on Verizon did not have any trace of Carrier IQ. All the phones on Sprint showed Carrier IQ.

I'm not rooted so I can't try it. I did see evidence of a logger as I've stated, but didn't see nothing pointing to Carrier IQ. I read on Gizmodo the Atrix was shown not to have CIQ, but I'm not sire what tests were done to prove that. If anyone has a rooted Atrix and can run this test stated above that would be appreciated.

We scanned a Samsung Galaxy on Verizon and there was nothing detected.
Looks to me that it's carrier based and not phone based.
I had to restore my phone from a backup and then reflash gRom overtop of itself to get everything working again. gRom is built off of the stock Sprint rom from what I'm reading so that's why it's showing up in that rom.

With regards to my Optimus S.... It is rooted and running gRom 2.2. From another Optimus S running Sprints stock rom there is a ton of CIQ stuff coming up on scan. With mine I'm only getting a hit on a couple of things... I'm not seeing the process running on the phone either. Where it is visible running on the stock phone.

I rooted my EVO 4G with Revolutionary and used Root Explorer to find all files containing "IQ". There were about 8 or so. Then I simply added ".org" to their names. I got a complaint notice from the system... something like "current services needs this application", but I disregarded and rebooted.

After the reboot, I checked my running apps and found that IQAgent was not running. Yes!!! So far, I've not had any problems calling, sending text, connecting via 3G or WiFi, browsing, downloading new apps from the marketplace or running existing apps.

Rooting took care of this issue, but that shouldn't have to be the case. As others have pointed out, we should be given the option of to accept or reject data capture and transfer to anyone for whatever reason.

Hello, my HTC Inspire 4G from AT&T does not have "carrier IQ" but does have "HTC Reporting Agent". Reporting agent can be turned off although if the phone is rebooted it comes back on.

AT&T LG Thrive (LG Optimus One) does have Carrier IQ according to Lookout's app.
Factory-unlocked Samsung Galaxy Note (UK, 16GB, black) doesn't (no surprise there, since no carriers have touched it)
