Spent 35 on my Speck candyshell. Has taken several falls with success. Only downside was the glossy finish scratched very easily. I remedied that and made it a matte finish with white lettering... I was bored. Looks good though and no more scratches. My wife has the white one and the scratches don't show on it.

I have an Element Atom ( a little more than $40) and it is a very high quality case, with ports that allow the sound to come out the front of the S4. Very premium feel.

I have a Diztronic flexible case--matte flat black. Very minimal--provides protection against everyday bumps and scratches. Very sleek, adds no bulk, all the port cutouts are perfect, and it provides grip. I love it and it looks incredible. $10 on Amazon--hard to go wrong there.

My favorite phone case yet.

Just a warning - if you get a case with "rubber/TPU" around the edges, be aware that they bow easily. Normally it doesn't bother me, but because the S4 has the chrome band around the bezel, if there is any bowing in the case, the light reflection from the chrome makes it REALLY noticeable.

I've tried a few cases and only two brands have "stiff" enough TPU around the bezel to hide the chrome - Poetic (atmosphere case) and Spigen (neo hybrid and slim armor view). The other cases I've used (Element Atom and a couple of Body Glove cases) had the bowing problem.

Best thing to do is just go try them all and see what you like the best. They're kind of like shoes, they all fit your feet but different shoes do different things. Some are built for comfort, others for style, others for protection. I tried about 10 different cases before I kept mine. Really having a few different ones is ideal. You don't need a huge Otterbox defender to go to dinner but you want more than a tpu to go to the beach. My .02.
