Ok... so I've gone through 3 cases and screen covers already, trying for a decent one... luckily I sold one case and got a refund on the other so not losing too much experimenting. Thought I'd give my opinion here in case you were looking and save you any mistakes I made.

Otterbox Defender - DO NOT BUY, avoid at all costs
Pros: Great protection, love the built in plastic screen protector (worked well for me, some say it doesnt), comes with a belt case which I was going to use to mount in my car for navigation, if you buy from Otterbox great customer service.

Cons: Overpriced, way too bulky, front face is too high and virtually impossible to type with thumbs or hit any buttons on the edges, belt clip is ridiculously bulky on top of it all, not pratical

Otterbox Commuter - Ok to buy, not my favorite, but my first
Pros: Nice and slip, plastic cover on top of the rubber cover, the rubber cover gives protection to the usb plug and all the buttons except for the 2D/3D toggle, fit is decent, perfect size for holding in portrait mode to type (because I find the 3VO by itself is too slim and top heavy to type fast in this mode and my palm tends to hit the search button on the bottom right all the time, so you need a case with a little lift at the edge to prevent this). Decent price if you got it with at least the 5% off. The best is the screen protector it comes, full screen coverage, very nice and clear, and makes the price for the case worth it (wish they sold this seperately).

Cons: The rubber is a lint magnet. The rubber fit is only decent, when you put the plastic on top, it can push the top or bottom a little excess slack. No cover for the headphone jack. Gotta give it a good fit on the top so the power button doesn't get too sensitive. The overall size is just ever so slightly too big but not bad.

Platinum Smartcase + Kickstand - almost perfect and finally a kickstand.
Pros: Automatically... the kickstand... watching a 2 hour movie is not ideal w/o one. The fit is very nice and snug, comes in 2 pieces and slides on easy. Hardshell but with a smooth rubbery finish for decent grip. ANTI-STATIC coating, no lint from your pocket. Just the right size, about the same as Commuter but slightly slimmer overall. Same price as Commuter w/o a screen protector but still my favorite

Cons: A little over priced, since it doesn't come with a screen protector, but still worth it for the kickstand. Kickstand is a little flimsy compared to the rest of the shell, but I don't see it breaking any time soon. No protection for any of the ports or buttons.

If you don't need overall protection and just need a case to make holding the 3VO easier and typing easier then the Platinum case is the way to go. I added a Zagg invisible shield for the screen protection, I still don't care for the anti-glare cuz I can notice the bubbles and color, even though I would have liked the smudge-proof factor.

I'm looking into the Seidio ones myself, specifically the ACTIVE. Anyone have any experience?

I love the otter defender! Yes it is big but at least I know for a fact it protects my phone. I also like the raised edge, better protection for my screen and I don't bump the captive buttons when I am watching something.

I love the otterbox commuter. My phone is usually in my purse while I'm out and about, laying on my desk at work, or laying around the house when I'm home. I have no need for the holster that the defender comes with and that case is too bulky IMO

The Seidio screen protectors are the BEST! They are very hard and scratch resistant and perfectly clear. The ones from best buy are junk rubber ones. The ones from Sprint only cover the viewable screen and scratch easy. The Seidio covers the entire screen as well and are not anti glare. The Seidio cases are great too.

I have been using the Platinum one and really like it. I wasn't looking forward to getting a case because I thought they would all be too bulky but I was pleasantly surprised by the bulk or lack of bulk that this case had. Glad that they let me try it out at Best buy.

Kickstand is awkward because it is in the wrong place if you want to charge while watching but if I had my way I would've gotten one without a kickstand (I have no need for one)...

I personally like the exposed buttons and ports and lack of screen protector is a non issue for me...

Overall I really like the protector.

I have to disagree with the platinum kickstand (aka seidio surface). I thought it was totally junk. Way too easy to break. The case itself is great though. Only complaint is the gap of coverage for the shutter. It makes it awkward to hold personally.

Waiting for ringke or a matter tpu case, but the active/platinum cruiser has been nice. A little big, but mostly the dust magnet factor is killing me.

platinum kickstand being in the wrong side is a deal breaker. Why on earth would they not pickup on blocking the charging port. Total fail on the engineering.

I'm waiting for the stock HTC with kick

There is also the body glove vibe case, which has a stand that deploys to the side and works as stand for both horizontal orientations as well as vertical. It works in all 3 orientations without having to adjust the stand. The issue is that it appears to be available only in pink and purple right now, which would not work for me. It also appears a little thicker than I would like, but I could probably live with it. Very cool design, if it was a soft touch black case with a silver metal kickstand this thing would perfect.

I just got home from taking DW to pick up this kickstand case. She was tired of not having one and became jealous of the one I have. It is a nice case. I have no regrets.
