Question USB Connection Types

Hello!

Having never used a flash drive previously I have a couple of queries before I nip out to purchase.

The drive is USB 3.1 type-C and my phone is USB 2.0. My (very) limited understanding is that USB 3x has more pins(?) and so will it still fit in to my 2.0 phone port and work?

I appreciate it would be limited to 2.0 speeds if compatible but I don't want to be faffing with connector leads for type-A drives if at all possible.

USB 3.1 should be backwards compatible just going to get the slower speeds with 2.0

Yes. It'll just run at 2.0 speeds.
Usb C is backwards compatible.
