Cases for the Leather back

For the same reason people get metal phones, brag about their materials, and cover them up with a case: Protection.

But yeah, it's not exactly the same situation here since the leather back is a sort of case in and on itself. I was just curious :P

While I agree you might not want a case to cover the leather, the leather does nothing to protect the phone in case of accidental drops.

True. If I got a case, it'd have to be a clear one if it has the leather back. Or a bumper case.

This thread is an oxymoron. Why would anyone get a case and a leather back just to cover it up?

Yeah, I get a cell phone as a fashion statement. I'm 12 yrs old and image means a lot to me. I'd rather take a chance going without a case, if it means people won't see how cool I am with a leather back. Because we all know that our cell phones define who we are as people. It's of the utmost importance to convey that to the world. Heaven forbid we should just use our phones as tools and concern ourselves with more important things in life. No. Now we've decided that what back is on our phone is SO important in life, and covering it up is a sin. Good God.

Ha...clearly we are related with that much cynicism, and the fact that I am a Briggs also.

xgman has a point. After all it's optional, so it would be strange to buy the leather back and then cover it up. A bumper case makes more sense.

I'd most likely get leather and either go bumper or commando.

If I were to slap a case on it, I'd get the plastic back, doesn't seem to make much sense to pay for leather then cover it with plastic.

Not saying that you are wrong but honestly if you just plan to cover the phone up in a big plastic box why would you spend extra for leather?! Also heard the leather back doesn't fit in most cases.

I hope that the carriers stock both the extra plastic and leather backs. I'll get a plastic one for when I need to use a case and have the fine leather one when I don't.

This Ringke Fusion bumper case is supposed to fit on G4 with leather back.

Those look okay but I think they take away from the leather. They would probably mar/scratch pretty easily too but I guess the leather would too. Gonna have to go commando with a glass on top.

Naked with screen protector FTW!

Back in the 60's and 70's, people used to protect their furniture with shiny plastic protective covers. They looked awful then, and they look even worse now.

Speaking of couches, remember those days had a few friends that had them. When I bought my new Murano one of boys suggested to put a towel of the leather seats. LOL No.

I think some are getting carried away with protecting things.

Have you ever worry about the overheating if wearing a case on your phone for a long time? My phone always get over heat for a short time. It gets me upset.

For protection. Or be like that other ***** on here or XDA (can't remember where) that dropped his phone and the screen cracked (it was a Nexus 6), bought another one, dropped it, and the display cracked on the new one, and then came to the forums complaining about how he doesn't understand how the screen on two seperate phones could crack and went on into a rant about it being a defect and blah blah blah.

Don't care how nice the leather back looks. If you drop it, you risk the screen shattering, cracking, etc. That's why people put cases on their phones. And when you drop your phone, without a case on it, and the display cracks, don't come on the forum with a long sob story because everyone who does put a case on their phones will tell you "We told you so."

I'll get the leather, I'll use a case at work (construction), I'll go naked at home
