Cases for the Nexus 6P

So anyone have an Adopted case from the Google store to compare with others? I am wondering what my options are if I want something slimmer.

Thanks

I have the aluminium N6P with the clear frost adopted case and it looks/feels/fits great! I have received a lot of compliments with it. You can also see the features of the phone through the case. The nexus branding is visible still.

I just got the Supcase Unicorn Beetle Pro in the mail and tried removing the built-in protector. I literally had to cut it out with scissors. Unfortunately now there are left over pieces around the frame, stuck to it with adhesive. How can I remove the adhesive without warping the frame?

Ok so I've had my Spigen Rugged Armor for 2 days and hate it. It is thin, looks great, fits great, and I can tell the corners will be better protected than most tpu cases because they are reinforced. But it has huge achilles heel because the back is smooth and provides no grip for your fingers. I still like to go one-handed as much as possible, and this case will make the phone slide right off because of the back. Even when I rest the bottom of the phone on my leg, belly, a table, whatever, it still slides to the side as I move my thumb around the screen. Because, for someone unknown insane reason I threw out the Spigen box, I cannot retrurn this and am now stuck with it. Back to the plasticky, fingerprint smudgey DGtile black case until a leather one, fake-leather tpu, or true matte case with some grip comes out.

I am obviously in the minority with my opinion, as this case is averaging a full 5-star rating on Amazon right now.

Maybe don't buy a case with a built-in screen protector if you don't want the screen protector...? Am I missing something here? You already basically destroyed the case anyway I can imagine it looks damaged.

Picked up the Ringke Fusion Clear case. Excellent with all the cut-outs..especially the pwr button which keeps me from tapping it when I pull it out. Fits nice, good grip, not slippery and not thick. Edges are not sharp when using it for phone calls. Protection seems to be ok...I'm just going to be careful out on the street. ;)

How do you hold a phone by the back of it? I grip a phone by the sides. I have several cases with slippery backs, but the sides are grippy. Never had a problem holding it. Enlighten me.

When I'm using a phone one-handed, sitting down (or sometimes walking) while scrolling through FB, clicking through web pages, etc. Unless you have have and extra finger or two, I don't believe the average human can hold both sides of any phone while using their thumb to do things you do on a phone. With the width of this phone, the back of the phone is resting on your finger tips while you are doing this stuff. Does that adequately explain it, or should I make a video for you?

Yes, make a video. I still don't get it. While using my phone and using my thumb to touch, my hand never touches the back of the phone.

+1 for the video as I'm not quite understanding either. When I hold my phone, three fingers are on one side of the phone and my palm is touching the other side with my pinky underneath for support. Sometimes I have my index finger on the back of the phone, but for the most part I don't really touch the back.

Thank you for that. There was a discussion about this very thing somewhere, and most people agreed that the back of the phone shouldn't matter much if at all. It's the sides you need to grip to hold onto. If you are holding onto the back, you would need to be pinching the the screen and the back of the phone. Makes no sense. As long as the sides of the phone/case are grippy, it's all good.

Even if you did 'palm' the back of the phone, your fingers should wrap around one side and provide grip. Maybe he holds the phone much differently than most people.

I've been using the Adopted case on my Nexus 6p in the couple of weeks I've had it, but am not really happy with it -- it fits well, but I don't like the plasticky feel, and the corners seem to invite dust to accumulate along the edges. I also ordered a tempered glass screen protector for the phone (one of the new ones that doesn't interfere with the proximity sensor), and I'm wondering how risky it would be to simply use the phone without a case if the screen is protected? In other words, how fragile is the actual aluminum body of the phone and how easy is it to get scratched? Would you consider going case-less?

I agree that the most important thing is grippy sides. That is by far my main concern with cases, especially one this large. Now with that said, in Cincy's defense, I would agree that I sometimes use my phone by resting it in my palm, so I know what he is talking about. I believe what he means is that you rest the phone on the pads of your hand that run just below the bottom of your fingers but just above the actual "palm" of your hand. When you use the phone that way, you can then use your thumb to play with the phone. I'm waiting for my 2 different cases to arrive (a smoke Red Shield, and a clear Ringke), and some reviews say they are grippy while others say the back is too smooth. It depends on your usage and when I went to this forum and saw so many different opinions (imagine that on a forum), I thought I'd try out two different ones and see if I like one, both, or neither. They are expected to arrive this week.

I just ordered the Spigen Rugged Armor. Can someone please give a review or post pictures if they have it on hand? Does it allow for a TGSP? How is the lip of the case?

FYI for anyone who has ordered the Spigen Rugged Armor off Amazon, expect it a lot sooner than the original anticipated delivery dates. Mine were Nov 19-24 and it is being delivered today. Shipped on the 12th.

I too did not like the slippery feel of the back of the Rugged Armor case.

A screen protector without a case? That just seems so backwards to me. If anything is not needed it's the screen protector. With the improvements in glass technology most screens remain looking new the entire life of the phone unless you are constantly putting them in your pockets with keys etc.

In the case of a drop the screen will not get touched if it's protected by even the lowest profile cases. The phone will hit on the edge or the back, and a modest lip on the front will keep the screen from scratching.

Here's my take... I support grippy back, but not for the reasons already given. Many times my phone has slid out of my gym shorts, or even jeans using a case with a non-grippy back. I want assurance that I'm not going to lose my phone at a restaurant some day because of this. Grippy solves that issue. Also, let's not pretend that we all hold our phones the EXACT SAME WAY every time we pick it up. There are times when the grippy back serves a purpose when holding as well..or even if you happen to be carrying your phone (not using). On a side note, anyone agitated with the placement of the power/volume buttons right smack in the middle of the phone? Would much rather them placed higher on the side. I've only had the phone a week. Twice I've already unintentionally powered off the phone.
