Cast to Chromecast problem Note 8.

I have a Note 8 and it was always easy to cast screen to my Samsung Smart TV. No I t seems very hard. I have uninstalled all my cast apps to start again as they are all full of adds and redirect me to other adds.

What is the best way for me to mirror cast from a website or the phone video.

All wireless. and yes all on the same network.

Welcome to the AC forums!

Are you not using the "Home" app from Google to cast to your Chromecast? If so, have you rebooted the phone to see if it's an internal error? Reset the Chromecast? Can your Samsung TV communicate using Smart View that's built into your phone?

Welcome to Android Central! Does your Samsung TV have Chromecast built-in? Are you actually talking about Chromecast in the first place, or are you talking about Samsung's own cast function using Smart Things?

Good point @B.Diddy, I didn't consider a built in Chromecast. Smart TVs usually have a reset button that might need to be pushed to get things going again, alternately.

Hi,

I have a Chromecast dongle which is plugged into the TV USB.

It does work with my wife's Moto 8.

I think it's more the sw.

Are you certain your Chromecast and your phone are connected to the same wi-fi network? Does the Chromecast show up in your Google Home app?

Smart view has always been the easiest way to cast from a Samsung phone to a Samsung TV, it's built into Samsung phones.

Since you explained your wife's Moto casts fine, my question earlier: Are you using the Google Home app, or were you using 3rd party apps to control your Chromecast? Have you used the built-in Smart View toggle to see if it will cast to your Chromecast, or even directly to the TV itself.

All these questions are relevant to solving your problem.

Google Home does show the CC is there (called Living Room) and words Living Room with the little cast logo shows on the TV.

Home shows the Graphics background and when I touch, Cast my Screen ir says..

Note: This device is not optimized for casting, so you experience may vary

When I touch, cast your screen It shows 90% then

Phone shows.. Casting to Living Room has ended and the TV shows, The Connection has stopped try again.

The Phone graphic background stars up showing again on the TV.

I appreciate the help.

Smart View will cast anything from the screen of my phone. I've used it for YouTube, Chrome, Discovery Go, Prime Video, music, it mirrors and plays everything I've tried. Just open something on your phone, then open Smart View, you may get a prompt to allow the mirroring (it does on my Roku) and then it shows whatever is playing on my phone. This includes the audio. I posted a screenshot of what the screen transitions to after the stream settles in, and an image I took of the screen.

Thank you for your help but my Smart View shows the TV # not the Chromecast Living Room option. It shows the tabs Muisc, Video, Image but nothing to do with steam etc even if I have one running on the phone.

When I use the Rumble app, it has the cast logo on top and straight away whatever I click, will steam to the TV.

So if the rumble one can work without any problem, I'm not sure why it is not easy for the phone itself.
