Casting with S9

I've found casting to a TV to be a frustrating and difficult exercise with the exception of YouTube videos. I have a Samsung S9. Yesterday I wanted to cast some photos to the TV. There was no casting icon on the Samsung gallery app. I searched for an app for casting and found one but it then put all photos into landscape mode presumably to maximize the size. I couldn't find any settings to fix it. Is it normal to find casting this frustrating? Does there exist an app out there that makes it as easy as it should be?

Adding a Chromecast dongle to the TV may be the way to go.

You were right, Google Home was what I was missing. I can easily view YouTube videos although viewing photos is unpleasant. They are often sideways and grainy.
