Casting youtube

Hi, I have just upgraded from a Galaxy Tab S2 with Android 7 to a Galaxy Tab S3 with Android 9.

When I cast a youtube video from the S2 to my Sony Android TV, the cast icon appears in the status bar and the video controls appear in the notification area. When I disconnect the video the TV automatically switches back to the live broadcast.

When I cast a video from the S3 to my TV, the cast icon and video controls do not appear, and when I disconnect the video the TV closes the youtube app but stays on the Sony home menu and I have to manually switch back to the live broadcast.

Anyone know why this is, and if it can be changed?

Welcome to Android Central! Just to be clear -- is this using Chromecast, or is it Samsung's Smart View?

Hi, I just click the cast button in the youtube app on both both tablets.

That would be Chromecast. On the Tab S3, go to Settings>Apps, select YouTube, and then Notifications, and make sure notifications aren't turned off.
