Cease and Desist

Wow, this one is actually literate. Looks like Microsoft's patent attorneys are having a slow week and decided to go after users? :D

A real Cease and Desist letter will be on law office stationary, and in a standard format. This had neither.

Sent from my Droid using Tapatalk 2

Yes. I work at a law firm now, and it would definitely be on standard stationary that would either be signed or electronically signed.

Honestly, we're talking about one of the biggest companies in the country and their lawyers don't even sign the letter? That seems a bit unlikely. Also, if I was Google, I would target someone like drew, who actually puts out the roms and programs, not just some person with a rooted phone (unless of course you have developed some things I don't know of).

This is obviously bull**** from a copyright troll.

Just read some of it:

Google Inc is the is the owner a copyright [grammar?] in various aspects [which aspects?] of Android Ltd... [Android is not, nor was it ever owned by a company called "Android Ltd."]

This is not the thorough and carefully crafted wording of a true legal document. Give a copy to EFF so they can publicly shame these fools and then toss that thing in the junk.

That is exactly what I'm planning to do. I'm kind of angry that they really thought I would fall for it.

I'm curious as to why they picked you lol

I'm guessing the virus that was hiding on my computer, which forced me to lose ALL my files, even my own project GingerRoot, was tracking my browser usage which is really easy since I use Aurora and it stores its logs.:confused:

. And I have to thrown this: if it's a serious enough issue for you, you may want to seek legal counsel.

Speaking of this--and I apologize if it's already been mentioned, if it does get to that level you will probably want to avoid talking about the specifics of your case on here. IANAL, but I'd bet my bottom dollar that your lawyer, if and when, will advise you to that effect.

I went to my attorney's office, and he told me sign it, and he signed it as a witness, and sending it off FedEx Express. Told me to lay off anything pertaining to what they said in the letter until he can investigate further. :'(

If you google the law firm, it does exist but it specializes in equine law (horses, horse racing, etc.) Probably not a firm Google is going to use for copyright issues. You should have just called to see if it was on the level and if they knew anything about the matter. As was mentioned before, no legal documents like this are sent via regular mail, since there must be proof that the person received it. It's for this reason you never accept unexpected certified mail. The chance is minimal that it's from the attorney of an unknown rich relative who left you millions in his will and more likely that it is not going to be good news. And never open your door to strangers, even if they're kids dressed as cub scouts.

Not no roms as of yet, but I DID ATTEMPT rooting utility which is on one of these threads in this forum until a virus wiped it. :'(

This thread is quite dead and the thread poster is no longer a member on AC.

I don't see any indication that the poster is no longer an AC member. In fact, if you click his username, it still appropriately links to his profile page. He does not appear to have posted very recently, but he last logged in a couple weeks ago.
