I'm in Pasadena CA and my phone cell data speed has been slow since Thursday night.

The bars on my phone look normal, like 3-5 bars like usual.

Something may be wrong with the nearest tower. Can someone check it out?

I even loaded a second browser. Same slowness problem.

Funny thing: the Gmail and Facebook apps seem normal. Wouldn't they be as fast or as slow as the browser??

Wifi and phone calls are as fast as usual.

I've been using cell data in the same place physically for years. Only now there is a slowdown. It's an Android HTC phone with older Android.

I gave up on my problem and bought a new phone. The old one was 4 years old anyway.
You know what's bizarre? The problem seemed to be only near my home, yet only with the browser and not the other apps.
Now I'll never know why.

When you're using "the browser", the speed depends on where you're browsing to. If you connect to microsoft.com, you'll probably get great speed from anywhere in the US. If you're connecting to "joe's server in rural China", you'll get terrible speed. Same phone, same browser, same provider. (The same with Facebook or GMail.)

That's why internet speeds are listed as "up to X mbps". They can guarantee the speed between them and you, they have no control over the speed between them and the server you're connecting to. And the slowest speed in the chain is the final speed to you. (It's like a highway - a Porsche can't do 60 in a traffic jam.)
