Does the Incredible 2 have a terrible radio, or is it just my phone? I just came from a BB Storm 2, and the reception is terrible on the Incredible 2 in comparison. Places that got perfect reception on the BB have marginal at best reception now.

are you actually experiencing bad receptoin (data loss, dropped calls)? or is it just the bars?

I know the bars are whacky, and I generally ignore them. I am bouncing into 1x or out of service completely in areas where I had no issues with my BB.

even with this switching thing.. i don't think its a big deal.. happens to me all the time, with no interruptions to my service at all.. so don't worry about it until/unless you start experiencing any functional issues..

do you have anyone else in the area with an htc device. you could see if it is the radio in htc's

i know each company has a slightly different design for their radio. motorola generally gets better signal than htc in my office. same os same network

I would like to know about this also because I switched from a BB Storm 2 to the original DI and because of poor call quality, i.e. complaints from the people I was on the phone with, I switched back to my Storm2 and sold the DI. I am considering the DI2 but if call quality is still an issue....forget it. I don't care how nice the phone is...if it doesn't function well as a phone, what's the use?

the call quality is fine. the OP is referring to reception. if, however, you are in an area with poor reception the call quality will suffer.
personally i find the reception decent. not the best but it gets calls and texts. in my home i get 1-3 bars depending on where i am. but that is verizon not the phone. in my office i never have any bars. but i can still text which i couldn't do with the thunderbolt

I noticed a very weak signal with DI2 after activation. I could not make or receive calls of text messages. Worse than my BB Storm 2. I received no service at home. Signal strength is weak in my area overall. However, after putting on the shell case, the signal was still weak, but the phone worked. I think the DI2 also suffers from the death grip problem experienced by iPhone users. Are you using a case with your handset>

every phone is susceptible to the death grip. it all depends where the antenna is located. that being said, i don't think the DINC2 has a noticeable death grip. i get pretty consistent signal in my frequented locations. i do think the DINC2 gets better signal than the Thunderbolt. But its hard to tell if its the radio or the fact that the Thunderbolt is on the Hybrid network. Even when operating on 3G.

I agree. But in a weak signal area I can only connect to the network when using the shell case.

Experiencing exactly what youre talking about. Rarely impedes my tasks but the service bars are noticeably lower. This is likely a move by HTC to save battery power and money with the weaker antenna, one of the few drawbacks of the phone although i am pretty sure it helps our battery life

Those of you having the problem have you run an ota update of your roaming capabilities? The *228 option 2. I noticed I was having some issues yesterday after I activated the phone with reception being bad where I hadn't had an issue with the original INC. I ran the update and no more problems. It might help...

I've updated my roaming. It doesn't help if there are very few cell towers in the area. Cell towers are expensive to put up and some people in the community don't like having them. Carriers have been camouflaging cell towers in flag poles and church steeples, but this also attenuates the signal. Cell towers are also placed by population and subscriber numbers. I live in a part of town that is still developing. So until more people move into the area, there is little chance that additional towers will be constructed.
