I have started giving VERY little credence to the percentages the battery monitor holds. Yesterday after unplugging, I did some txt message and emails for about 20 minutes on the phone. Then, I made a 7 minute phone call. The battery meter had the two activities (20 minutes of screen-on time and 7 minute call time) as having the exact same battery drain. I would hope that it didn't drain the battery almost 3 times as fast to talk than to use the screen. The phone has a spec'd 7 hour talk time...

Hi guys, I'm cruising the Verizon forum from Sprint and saw this issue, read through your problems.

So, I will give you what I did with the same horrible usage, it should be close for another carrier. Or read the Sprint Epic forums, there is a sticky at the beginning.

I had horrible battery drain, especially after the Media Hub update. So I still do these steps everytime my phone turns off, reboots, restarts, whatever. Allegedly for us, updates have fixed. But I now get over a day every day regardless of what and how much I use it, even in bad reception areas on roam.

Toggle Airplane Mode off and back on

Biggest drain I found was Media Hub - to to SETTINGS/APPLICATIONS/RUNNING SERVICES. Close anything that says Media Hub, then DRM Server. Do this by tapping on black box, it asks to close, say yes.

DRM whatever will restart anytime you turn off, restart, reboot. So I do this everytime. I have had significant change in battery. So since this is a Samsung issue, try it and good luck.

If it works for you, hit the thanks button, please.

I have tried the airplane trick forwards and backwards, never made a difference for me in terms of what the battery monitor reported. I havent tried killing the DRM service though; some people have said you can pull it from the OS entirely and be OK but so far I have left it alone.
