There is no good reason they should not have released or at least announced this phone yet on Red.

Of course they announce more footlong devices with no effing keyboards...

One thing i can tell you bosox, i wrote this on the reg comments on the site but i had a nice long chat with a verizon tech today he told me that there are some really nice QWERTY Android phones coming soon he couldnt get into specifics (bc he doesnt want to get into trouble) but im hopefull its something good though he did say they might be getting a newer version of the Merge with 4G. or something similar. as of today it was still not in Verizon's system for tech's to see though with a release of 4/7 if it will be coming to verizon expect news of it in the next week or so as Technicians only get about a weeks notice about new devices.

can you get your hands on some at retail jtown??? since you are a subscriber they might let you do that if you can and there is no news of it on verizon please let me know as i would love to work something out and get my hands on this phone!

There have to be more people that want a sliding kb on Verizon and don't like the D2. I've personally not had much luck with Moto. Though they have some nice features, I've not had good reliability. I also don't understand the virtual plethora of black slabs, with only the D2 as choice if I want a kb. It's a great time to be looking if you want a smooth black slab that won't fit in your pocket. I did go down and handle a TB, but the familiar misread of my typing was immediately apparent. Nice device though, very fast. Hopefully Verizon releases either Merge or a better slider before my contract is up. Otherwise I'm going to jump ship, save some $ every month, and buy a phone that I really want. Sprint and AT&T cover my area quite nicely, even if they don't have the nationwide footprint that Verizon does. (And they both offer "4G" here, which Verizon won't until 2013.)

Me too. And if you look at the leaked Verizon upcoming phones, no Merge. Cellular South has coverage in my area and I will be looking at them.

Define coming soon. According to the leaked roadmap (http://www.androidcentral.com/leaked-verizon-roadmap-points-likely-releases-april-may), there are no Android QWERTY phones coming soon. There's no guarantee that it's 100% (I honestly would float multiple copies just to know what area has leaked something).

I get the feeling that the tech was blowing smoke. Shouldn't someone have heard something about a 4g Merge? If this is the route that Verizon is going down, how long until release? I heard they tested the original Merge for six months and going 4g can't be as easy as switching a chip. Ugh...

I just checked with my friend that works with Alltel and he said even if I bought the Merge at retail it would have to be activated on a line at time of purchase. I really wish that Verizon would get it because IMO the more people that have it the more that people will develop for it.

Well, I hope your tech is right...and I hope something comes out soon...I'm about ready to put my blackberry flip through a window.

I just get frustrated, and I tell my friend who works at a Verizon call center this all the time, that Verizon releases nothing but huge slab phones. She replies "majority rules and this is what the majority wants". It just gets so effing frustrating...

I was simply saying what the tech told me like i said he couldnt tell me anything in particular all he said was there will be Qwerty phones comng soon. i am hoping to get my hands on a merge one way or the other, maybe Amazon will sell it as they are putting the marketplace on the US cellular Merge?
