Question Image-Clone your Android to PC

How do I export an exact image of my android hard drive to Windows PC?
Unless you're rooted, you can't. Or rather it would be futile since you can't restore nor see the contents.

Backup important folders manually or find an automated app that backs up to Google Drive.

Important folders: DCIM, Documents, Downloads, Movies, Music, Pictures, Recordings.

That's about it aside from any other folders you made since you can't get to nor restore anything else.

So which software should I use to make that image?

I'm not rooting my Pixel 8 cuz it's replete with data & IDK if I can backup everything, however I plan to root my next phone. Plus it would be tedious since I have to go app by app systematically just like if you wanted to export your entire telegram history but you're in a lot of channels you don't want to suddenly leave.

In hindsight though I absolutely should've rooted my pixel 8, so my next question is which software would I use to transfer my data to a rooted device since I obviously can't use the Google startup interface?

If you don't want to Factory Reset because of the hours of work and possible data loss, you understand that factory resetting is the first step to rooting a device. In the meantime, I would also caution that rooting is dangerous and can brick your device rendering it useless. You can find information on rooting at places like XDA Developers where many of the conversations are about root, modifying Android and customizing devices. You'll likely find that they have a root solution for your P8P. They can also advise you on how to backup and restore.

Most Android phones are back up to a cloud , could be Google, manufacturers etc..

If you root then that's a different story they can have different ways to back up .

Modern Android uses:
File-Based Encryption
Verified Boot

So your not going to get full disc clone on stock Android.

OP you need to go re-read what i said.

After that read what's involved to root, maintaining root, what you loose and gain. After what VidJunky said. After that mustang7757 and then B. Diddy's posts.

This isnt a simple task if you have no idea what you're doing. Deep reading is your next step.
