Android Central Question

Hello! I just bought the OnePlus 7T running Android 10. Great phone. BUT interestingly, certain apps won't allow themselves to be added to a group folder. I end up sort of chasing the group folder around. To attempt a solution, I have opened/closed app; opened/closed group; turned phone on/off. Nothing works. Is there any solution, or alternatively, another way to add an app icon to a folder?

Hey thanks. I actually had an account. I was surprised I could ask a question without logging in. Anyway, I am using OnePlus' launcher. Mind you, I can make groups with no problems with most of the icon/apps. There are a few that won't behave. I went to try Nova, but it doesn't support Oneplus's gesture system.

Welcome to the forums. Which apps are giving you problems? Is any of them a widget instead of an app shortcut? By the way, you can use gesture navigation with Nova, actually I do :) OnePlus is one of the few brands that let you enable gestures navigation while using a custom launcher.

Hi Javier, I thought to try Nova just to see if it was a Launcher issue, but when I selected Nova, it gave me a warning that Android hasn't allowed 3rd party launchers access to gestures. I'll give it a shot. Anyway, My Uber, United and Travelocity App-icons will not join the groups I have set up when I hover them over them

Don't worry about that warning, the home gesture is a bit slow but all gestures are available.

Did you download these apps from the Play store or from a different place?

It can be a little finicky sometimes. Make sure you're moving the icon fairly quickly onto the other one, and come in from the side (rather than from the top or diagonally). In the past, I've found that the slower you move the icon, the more likely the launcher thinks you want the other one to move out of the way.

Update: Moved to Nova and had no problem creating folders. Have to assume the problem is with OnePlus Launcher. Having said that, I did try as B Diddy suggested, and lo and behold, approaching from the side worked! So the problem is solved. Thank you. And I actually like Nova as well. So I am good either way.
