Certification for Verizon?!?!

If you do switch, WiFi Calling and VoLTE should work without extra effort. My KEYone worked with both on TMO right out of the box.

This is correct. T-Mobile supports WiFi Calling / VoLTE on unlocked phones.

Indeed. WiFi Calling, VoLTE and HD Voice all work great. I was able to test yesterday when my phone arrived. Screenshots are here for anyone interested: https://forums.androidcentral.com/showthread.php?t=830176&p=5949189&viewfull=1#post5949189

No issues with reception or call quality on TMO so far. This phone easily rivals some of my old BlackBerries with Paratek antennas.

One thing about online reviews is they never address network performance. It's always about appearance, OS skins, "lag" and camera. The irony is these devices are supposed to be phones first, but actual cellular radio telephony features almost always get overlooked. Zero "lag" in the latest time-wasting game on the latest super-double-throwdown-hybrid-organic-light-emitting-diode display doesn't much matter if network performance is junk. But, I digress. :p

So, yeah I moved my SIM card and all works (finally)....Well, except that I CAN'T receive phone calls. I can make them, just can't receive them. Calls ring on the caller's end three times then goes to my voice mail which I CAN retrieve. I'm wondering if this is because Verizon doesn't have my IMEI # since it isn't certified. BTW, I'm on a VZW MVNO if that makes any difference. Any thoughts??

Received note work my shipping confirmation (today) that Essential Phone won't work on Verizon but they are trying to fix that.

I've been using my essential on Verizon for a week and it works just fine. VoLTE works as well.

I had a weak LTE signal with Verizon on Nexus 6P. With Essential phone signal completely drops out. I'll try a new SIM card, but I'm not optimistic.

My Essential phone worked with VoLTE on Verizon very well. Wi-Fi calling did not, however. Signal reception is spotty in my home and my phone calls at home were not very good. This is the reason I no longer have the phone.

Kind of the same boat here, Verizon with my Nexus 6 I had good LTE, wifi to LTE hand off was good too. With the essential I hardly get LTE at home, sometime a reset works to lock LTE.. it's been spotty in places my Nexus 6 had no issues ..I can get 3G all day and wifi to 3G hand-off works great..my issues are with Verizon LTE signal and wifi to LTE so inconsistent.. not sure were the problem is but I'm thinking of going T-MO anyway. Does anyone know if Verizon uses LTE band 16 ? Because looks like essential doesn't support band 16. This could explain my lack of good LTE

No phone supports FDD LTE band 16. To my knowledge it hasn't been defined and deployed yet.

I'm not sure what it takes for a handset to work correctly on VZW myself. TMO has been flawless for me so far. But, every carrier depends on the area. It might be worth picking up a TMO prepaid SIM just to test the network for a bit before switching.

That's a good idea , I'm planning to stop at TMO this weekend anyway so I'll look into prepaid as an option or just switch anyway. Tired of Verizon and they crappy plans.

Saw the post about Rubin"s Q&A where he said that Verizon certification could come any day. I've been using the phone with my Verizon SIM with no issues so far. Does anyone know if there will be anything that changes once that certification goes through? Will we have to do anything or will it just work?

I had Verizon's enhanced caller ID on my account with my previous phone. Will that kind of service automatically work when certification happens?

No WiFi calling, visual Voicemail app not compatible for this device.. maybe it's taking a while to update these on their back end, I also have to use global setting to get LTE to work ...top option it won't connect. Definitely not plug and play with Verizon, and looks like I'm not alone

I tried Global mode with VZW, no difference. Phone was border line unusable. Between 5X, 6P, & PH-1, 5X has best reception by ~10dBm.
