Change default background color in Samsung Notes app

Does anyone know of a way to change the default background color in Samsung Notes? I ask because I preordered the blue with the yellow S-pen. This one takes screen-off memos in yellow. Apparently when viewed in the Notes app, the yellow writing is retained on a white background, and I’ve seen a few reviewers say it is quite hard to see (yellow on white).

So is there a way to change the background in Samsung Notes?

I'm sure I saw a video where there is an option to turn that yellow back to the original white, but having not got a Note 9 in hand just yet, cannot confirm, but with the Note 8 when you take a screen off memo it saves it in dark writing with white background.

But answering your question, I couldn't see an option to change the background colour in Samsung notes.

Agree with previous poster, we will find out until we get our Note 9 phones and the Note 8 doesn't have a setting to change the background color.
You can always visit a bestbuy or carrier store that has the Note 9 on display and check yourself.
I didn't check on that last time I played with the Note 9 at my local bestbuy.

Should be an easy fix with software update if more people complain about this. Yellow in almost white background just dun make sense

I think what you might have read was that you could change the ink color of the screen off memo to white,? Not the default background of your Notes, no?

Cancel the Note 9's signature color
However, if you're not a fan, you can jump into the S Pen settings to turn this off. Settings > Advanced features > S Pen > Screen off memo > toggle Use S Pen signature color to the off position.

Seems they were more concerned with color aesthetics of the device rather than usability. Bad miss.

Thanks, yes, so that is what I said. You can make the ink white by doing that.

It sounds like as of now you can't change the default background of the Notes, which is what I am interested in. I like that signature color ..

And this is another thing I hate about Samsung Note. In S-Note you could easily change the background color.

Same here. I love the signature color and wish it would save in black. Heck the white saves in black. Hopefully Samsung updates that.

Had the same situation, and turns out the original s note app is actually still available in galaxy apps store. If you're having this issue, it's most likely because you are using the "Samsung notes" app, as opposed to the original "S Note" app. Which again is available in galaxy apps store (Not play store)

Good luck

Thanks. They fixed it now though. If you have the updated Samsung Notes app, you can set it so that screen off memos appear black in Notes now.

You can do exactly this. In Samsung Notes go into your settings. About three quarters of the way down you'll see a section called Screen Of Memo. Change the pen color for saved notes to black. Now you can enjoy taking your screen off notes in yellow / lavender, but having the actual saved note be black on white for easy reading.

Right. This option appeared a few days ago once the newest version of Samsung Notes updated. It was not there previously. Thanks.

Did you try that app? I’m assuming it’s not the original. I love the original S Note app with Action Memo, Photo Note, Easy Chart, Idea Sketch, Scrapbook, etc. I actually finally got it completely installed on my Note 8 and it worked flawlessly. Unfortunately the update to Oreo messed most of it up. But I manage to change the tactics I took to get in on my phone somewhat and managed to get almost all of it. Unfortunately, I can’t get Easy Chart to install at all and Photo Note only works in landscape (but it at least works).

Please let me know if you do install that and it has all of the features the original S Note had. That would be great. I was told it doesn’t have any if the ones I mentioned, but it does have a couple of the smaller features. I really hope Samsung brings the original S Note back. It’s absolutely Superior and I think it gives them a competitive edge.

Hmm, I don't see that option. I suspect they are doing a staged rollout of the new version and I just can't see it yet. I guess it will show up in a day or two, but at the moment, my phone thinks it has the latest version of the app.

Can you look in Settings -> About Samsung Notes and post the version you are on?

I've got version 2.3.02.2 which does not have the ability to change the pen color for saved notes to black (or I'm looking in the wrong place).
