Hello everyone! I'm thinking of getting rid of my Note 4 and getting either a Xperia Z3 or a Nexus 6. Don't get me wrong, the Note 4 is a great device, but for the money, the amount of lag and terrible low-light and indoor pictures and pretty bad battery life is just too much for me.

The most important things for me are:
Battery life (I'm getting between 2-3.5 hours of SOT on my Note 4)
Performance (multitasking. I'm getting a ton of lag on my device when multitasking, or taking pictures, or viewing pictures. Other than that, it's OK. But I use my phone as an email or camera 99% of the time!)
Camera (decent pictures, I know it won't be a Lumia 1520 or 930, but still, what is your opinions of the Nexus 6 camera?)

All the blogs said the Note 4 was the device for me, but over the last 3 roms I haven't been able to fix ANY of these issues. I'm not a rooter, so I would be 100% stock.

How's the Nexus 6? Are you guys generally speaking happy with it? Has anyone played with the Note 4 and could maybe shine some light on their opinion and experiences? Thanks!

UPDATE:
I bought the Nexus 6, and you can see my image comparisons to the Note 4 here :)

Hi. I sold my Note 4 and originally got the S6 but returned that because of so many issues. I was eying the Nexus for some time now and decided to get it.
I'm very happy with it.
The battery life is fantastic.
It syncs well with my LG Urbane.
It's very snappy and the sound quality is very good.
I'd go for it.

How's your experience with the camera? I've read some mixed reviews.

Having owned both and returned to the note 4, I can try and give some input.

Performance wise the Nexus 6 is better (which you would expect) clean android so very snappy and little to no lag.

Now your other biggy is the camera and I am no camera expert it's a function I rarely use on phones but for me the note 4 camera is quite abit better various reviews and comparisons vidoes on youtube etc will back this up the nexus 6 camera isn't great and lacking in functions over the note 4's.

Oh and battery wasn't great on my nexus however what I have to point out is I had the nexus when it launched its had a few updates since then to 5.1.1 so this may be alot better now.

Compared to the note 4, how are you seeing the battery life? Because I have these statistics. Full coverage. Wi-Fi, too. Streamed a little music. uploadfromtaptalk1432457469171.jpg

It's generally speaking bad battery.

Re: Is a change from the Note 4 worth it? Chime in!

Below is my post switching to Nexus 6 from Note 4 just days ago. Surprisingly, battery life is as good or even better than my note 4. I am really liking the experience of pure stock android. I never used multi window stuff on note 4 and used the spen for screen shot taking every now and then. So switching was a no big deal. This phone is so simple, fast, Smooth, and so far ZERO lag. My note 4 is back into its box. Happy with my switch.

Today I went to the store, and they had a nexus 6 there. I played with the camera a bit. I have some test shots for you guys if you're interested.

I'm not enamored with the camera probably because I also have an iPhone 6.

Re: Is a change from the Note 4 worth it? Chime in!

I'm just going to copy and paste this standard reply from now on for all of the "is the nexus 6 still worth it" threads.

I don't see why it wouldn't still be worth it. It still has what are considered high end specs. It's probably the smoothest android experience you can have. Big beautiful screen, fast as a cheetah, more than adequate camera, timely updates, awesome rom/customization support, and pure android. Yes, it's still worth it, and will be a good phone for a long time.

As an addendum to my copy and paste, rom support is second to none except maybe the nexus 5. Which comes as no surprise seeing it's been out longer and is afterall, a nexus. ;) Nothing beats a nexus for developer support and customization.

Re: Is a change from the Note 4 worth it? Chime in!

Yes. I agree. But I'm not a developer. I guess I just want my phone to work... I'm going to give the note 4 some more time since I'd be trading off some pros of the note 4. None of which are Samsung software related... They're all about the camera! Which I use quite often. 😂 thanks though. If I can't get this phone to feel right to me in the next month or so, I'll trade it for a nexus 6 if nothing else comes along

If it's anything like the G3 camera then it will be awesome

Signal strength comparison between the two? After two Samsungs in a row with Motorolas around me having better signal strength all the time, I'm getting ready to get back to a Motorola if that's what it takes to get a strong phone.

Re: Is a change from the Note 4 worth it? Chime in!

Hello everyone. I recently made the switch. Well, what I mean to say is that I recently bought both! So I have them here. If anyone is interested in the differences in camera quality, I'd gladly show some. I'm actually VERY surprised at the quality. I have been hearing again and again "oh the note 4s camera is much better" but I honestly can't say it is... Take a look at this tiny comparison.
Windowed snapped, keeping them at their "view 100% of the image" setting in Windows.

Now look at them with 100% zoom

They're both VERY good pictures. Yes, there is a difference in the picture saturation and such, BUT... I asked a few people here which picture they liked more without knowing which one it was, and all of them picked the Nexus 6 (the picture to the right).

Then I repeated the same picture with HDR on for both.

I actually think the Nexus 6 in HDR gets more details than the Note 4... I think I'm going to be a happy camper! :D hehe. Only time will tell though ;)

Re: Is a change from the Note 4 worth it? Chime in!

The nexus 6 camera is quite good. It'd only because the note 4 camera is so great that you notice the difference, and only in some situations.

What situations might those be? I'd like to be able to test it. I have 30 days with both devices before I have to send one back ... I'd like to be fully informed about which to keep... I really dislike the note 4 camera. But I guess until I test them both in all the lighting situations will I be able to make an informed decision. Tonight I'll try lowlight when the sun goes down. Here in Spain, that could be a while.

Well in my experience, most situations except bright sunlight (and even then focusing quickly is an issue for the n6). But here is a picture that represents the kinds of differences I see between note 4 and n6 picture quality. N6 = hazy, less detail, slower to focus. I had to take several pictures with the n6 to get a picture even worth comparing to the note 4.

N6 on the left, note 4 on the right

Re: Is a change from the Note 4 worth it? Chime in!

Yeow. That's quite a difference. The left pic almost looks like it's got a blue filter on it.

Pre-installed camera apps and similar settings in both cases? HDR, yes or no?

Nice patient dawgy, for sure.

Stock apps, hdr off. And yeah she can be good when she's staring off into space. Most of the time she's just running around and banging into things like a big stupid dumptruck :)

Re: Is a change from the Note 4 worth it? Chime in!

Hmm, I see what you mean. So I just did another test with my parrot. I took 3 additional pictures. This makes ALL the pictures I have taken with the Nexus 6 (slow day). And I really can't see how the Note 4 is beating this phone in other reviews. I can see the difference in your picture, but I have constantly had a lot of trouble with the Note's camera. So, taking into account the pictures i have taken, almost every single one has been better than the Notes... :-\... Not just my opinion... I've asked others as well.

Enjoy these! N6 on right, Note 4 left.

EDIT:
Pictures came out a little small, so here's a link to the full sized image in JPG. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7807278/Nexus 6/Camera Comparison with Note 4/Simba picture.jpg

I've also added some lowlight... Nexus still beats Note 4... Hmm...
