Change messages background Samsung S7active

[Android Central Question]

I have a Samsung galaxy S7active. I use the default app for texts. I did an update today and can no longer add a background to my text conversations. Is there a new way to get to that setting? I hate the plain white.

I'd like to know too. What could possibly be the point of removing the option. I'm disliking samsung more everyday.

In the newest update that feature was removed. The note 8, s8 series and s9 series are all the same way now. Can't be done without a new update.

I am now using stock Samsung Messages App with a theme called "Mattblack".

This allows most of all screens to be blacked out including messages screen
