I think I have found the issue - the Pixel 2 only likes USB 2 - all works well in a USB 2.0 slot - not so well in the USB 3.0 slot - BUT - I think I am all set for the Pixel 3 -
I may mess with the USB drivers later - only had phone for 1 hour
Sorry I was thinking of something different, just realized I don't even have a USB cable to try the 3.0 port on my laptop, always used the cable that came with the phone before@Ca_lvn - tried those setting - not the answer
I can only speak for MY computer - but it is a USB 3.0 issue as far as I can tell

I am using the same cable that came with the 1st Pixel I had - USB C male on one end and USB A on the other - can connect from USB port to phone.
The cable that came with the P2 is USB C male on both ends - has a USB A female to USB C male adapter. There doesn't seem to be any way to connect the P2 to a USB A port with the cables in the P2 box - unless I am missing something here![]()
