Does anyone know how to change the vibration pattern for Texting apps, I use Textra and Signal. I can change the pattern for every app but these two. I know where to change the pattern, but it doesn't change the pattern for these texting apps, it's just heartbeat and that is it.

Thanks for any help

Which device?
My Samsung u can change vibration pattern global but not individual App

Note 20 Ultra.

Right now I have the "Global Pattern" set to Medium, so all apps except Textra and Signal have that medium vibration and I want Textra and Signal to have the medium vibration as well, and they have the heartbeat vibration.

Hope that makes it clearer.

Where do u see the settings for medium?

You can change it for all in settings>sounds>vibration

I understand you can't change it individually, but what I am saying is that the setting is for Medium, globally on my phone, BUT that medium isn't applying to Textra or Signal, but it applies to everything else. I want Textra and Signal to be medium, but it's not applying

I see medium was selected on the list, can try clear data then force stop those apps and double check vibration is on

Also try another vibration pattern on the list see if not working in those apps

I changed the pattern to Dubstep, and I'm actually glad that Textra has an option so you can test the notification settings, but sadly, it did not change. I'm curious if this is just me, or does this happen to everyone else on a Samsung Note 20.

I was sure Textra gave custom vibrations that you could actually create for specific contacts. It's been a while since I've tried though. I use Textra every once in a while. Are you a pro user on Textra?

You probably have to reach out to Textra abd see what they say

Update.... No progress. LOL.

I contacted Textra, they said that this was the first time of hearing this problem, they said A12 made it impossible for apps to have separate vibration patterns for different apps, so this was a 1st.

They advised me to delete the data on the app and start from scratch, it didn't work. I am waiting to hear if they can advise anything else, but if not I would contact Samsung.

Does anyone know the best way to reach out to Samsung about issues like this?

I made an account on here specifically to comment.

I have the same exact problem with Textra, it has been driving me absolutely crazy. However, whenever you ask about it, people think that you're talking about the custom vibration pattern that Textra previously allowed you to do, so it's nearly impossible to get help on this.

I don't want Textra to have a custom vibration pattern, I simply want it to follow my global vibration pattern as I have set within Android's notification settings.

So far the only fix I've found is to install an old version of Textra and set the custom vibration pattern within the app itself. I don't want to do this, as newer versions of the app will include security fixes and other stuff. Using an old version shouldn't be an acceptable solution to this problem.

@priceless819 PLEASE let me know if you find a fix for this. I'm really frustrated with this issue and have been looking for a solution for months.

btw, I have a Galaxy S20+

Welcome to AC!
If you have to install a older version of Textra that means its Textra issue

I agree, it seems like a Textra issue. Not sure why it can't play nice with Android notification settings like every other app I have.

I haven't tried the fix of installing an older version of Textra myself, but I have seen others talk about this in other forums in regards to the custom vibration issue I previously referenced. I had someone on reddit message me at one point that told me that it should work to fix my problem too. Unfortunately, installing an old version of the app and never updating is not something that seems reasonable to me as a fix for this issue
