Changing the notification sound on the Gear S3

I don't like the pre-installed notification sounds on the Gear S3. Is there a way I can change the notification sound to anything I want? I'd really like to use the iPhone Tri-Tone text message tone as my notification sound on the Gear S3. Does anyone know how to do this?

Root your device first.
Since iOS components can be propitiatory, I cannot explain what to do with that.
But let's say you have a tune called "YourTone" in any format( .mp3, .m4a...or any format. even a video file with the required sound) with you.
Convert the required notification to ".ogg" format. You can do this very easily via an online converter.
Then, send that "yourTone.ogg" file via bluetooth to the device.
Finally, using an app like root explorer, copy the file you just sent to your device to the "notifications" folder. Here is the full path to the "notifications" folder.
system > media > audio > notifications
Now, go to settings and you'll see your newly copied "YourTone" under notification list.
Enjoy.

When you say root my device do you mean jailbreak it?

My bad. Since both Gear S3 classic and Gear S3 Frontier runs on a version of Tizen OS, you cannot do anything with that Gear for now. But, as for the "jailbreak" thing, that word is used for APPLE devices.

The word "ROOT" usually goes with Android. For android devices, "rooting" means taking the device control by the user. But for a regular user, in android, you do not need this "root" thing. It has much freedom to perform various task requested by the user.

I am happy to have options on the S3 for notifications on the S2 everyone had the same notification (or you could use vibrate) and the ringers were very limited as well. My coworker and I both had the S2 she was a bit older and turned hers up loud... see where this was a problem?

There was a work around in another forum for how to change ringers on the S2 the app ran you a buck in the app store but you were still STUCK with that same 1 notification sound. I will check around and see if anything has been done with the S3 for you.

Sorry!!!! I just switched to the Samsung Galaxy S7 from an iPhone 6 last year and I've had the iPhone since the iPhone 5 so I'm not used to all of these different words.

Sorry seems it is the same as it was for the s2 if you want a custom ringtone that can be achieved through this app that cost a buck. You are stuck with the notifications that came on it though.

Hi! If there is still anyone interested in changing the notifications, there is now in the store an app called "Custom notifications" that does the job.
