Charging issue with Tab S 10.5 LTE

I have a new Galaxy Tab S 10.5 LTE through Verizon and I have noticed that when I plug in the provided charger, the battery symbol on the screen gets is lightning bolt as it should, but then when the screen goes dark, whether by timeout or closing my case cover, the lightning bolt goes away and charging seems to stop (ie 1% over 8 hours last night). Is there a setting I don't know about, or should I be taking this back?

Same thing happened to my Tab S 10.5 the first 2 times I charged it. I called samsung and was told to ship it back.. The third time it charged fine and has been ever since. Don't know what the problem was but it has been working fine for the two months I've had it.

Well that sucks, but I will keep an eye on it and see if it changes any. If not, I guess I have a trip to Verizon coming up!
