I'm not sure if everyone has given up on this topic or not, but I thought I would chime in given that I have been experiencing the same issues. Firstly, the phone overheats like crazy - but only sometimes. It did this before I even installed any apps so I know that if it is a software problem it is HTC's software problem, not mine. Unfortunately I am the one who has to deal with it. It doesn't happen always, but the phone does stay much warmer than any other device I've had and quite honestly I'm surprised it hasn't given itself heatstroke. Seriously, the fact that it can withstand its own heat problem soeaks to the heartiness of the rest of the phone. Not an acceptable problem to allow a device to be released with. Seriously HTC, get your *** together before you release your product. I also know that if it was a hardware problem it is a hardware problem for all (or at least most) HTC One m9 users. I know this because as soon as I noticed the heat issue I sent it back and got a replacement which had the same problem PLUS a charging problem. So I sent that one back, too and the newest one was working fine. Then one day it started having the same problems. It would get so hot and it was charging extremely slowly. If I was using it while it was charging the battery pecentage would still drain - slowly but it was going down. I would have returned it again if it hadn't been such a good phone otherwise. So I hung on to it and have spend a lot of time scouring the internet looking for solutions. Then HTC released a software update that was supposed to fix charging and overheating problems. That worked for about 3 days. Arg. So now I have a phone that regularly gets very hot and about 1/6th of the time charges incredibly slowly. There is nothing wrong with the port or the cable. I am using a rapid charge HTC charger. I have tried different cables and ports but it doesnt make a difference. I have always had trouble getting it to onnect to my Windows 7 machine - every time I hook it up I have to go to the device manager and uninstall the device (not just the drivers) and reinstall it and then it reads fine. But that is a different issue - I am pretty sure it is just a driver problem - the lady with HTC chat told me not to install their sync program under any circumstances (which I hadn't done anyways). Just thought I would throw that out there while we were discussing fixes for the problems people are having with this model. So, its not the charger, the cable, the port, the apps, the version...I have done a soft reset,a couple of hard resets (yay I get to install everything all over again) and I just recalibrated the battery. I'm not expecting too much but hey, let's see if it is at least a temporary fix. It is too late for me to return the phone now and if I could just solve this set of battery/charging issues I'll be really happy. I'm on a mission - if anyone has anymore suggestions please post them or feel free to email me at klear6@hotmail.com Thanks for your time. You are not alone and I hope this info has helped you not waste too much time on suggested fixes that don't really help.
