Charging the Tab S2 9.7 64GB takes forever

I upgraded my Tab S2 8" to the 9.7". I find using it on a variety of ways I can get up to 5 hours use.
My issue is charging it to full takes 8 or more hours from 20%.
My major complaint is Motorola adopted the Qualcomm chips that allow Quick Charging 2.0 and Samsung chose a chip in their recent phones with Adaptive Charging. Why would they not use a chip in the Tab to do Adaptive Charging to speed up the process.
Is charging pales compared to iPad in general.
Please tell me if you are having issues or it's just me.

Normal charging (1C, or the capacity of the battery as the charge current) takes about 90 minutes from 40% (which you should never drop a lithium battery below). You may have a defective charge, cable or even tab. Run Ampere to see how much the tab is drawing, and compare that to the charge current you get when you plug the charger in. (If the discharge current is more than 25% of the battery capacity, turn the tab off to charge it, and you should see a normal charge time - then find out what's drawing so much current when it's on. A rogue app can do it.)

My Tab S2 8.0 charges surprisingly quick with the charger that came with it. I haven't timed it but it takes about 2 hours to charge from 25% or thereabouts. When plugged in to my PC w/USB it charges much slower.

If the iPad charges so much faster than the Tab S2, then why bother using the Tab S2 9.4?

I have both the tab s2 8 and 9.7. The 8 does charge much faster.

Size does matter, battery size that is. The battery on my Tab 4 10.1, takes about 4 hrs to charge. The larger the battery the longer it takes to charge and the longer it should last between charges.

I chose the Tab S2 9.7 over any style iPad for a simple reason. I have only invested in Android and Google Play and other Google apps. To switch suddenly to an iPad was not my first or second choice.

I will have to retry the original Tab S2 9.7 charger again to see if it makes a difference.

Sorry for this second response. I have the 9.7 size not the 8.0 so the battery sizes are different so I would not expect my 9.7 to charge to 100% in 2 hours like your smaller battery.

True, but the battery in the 9.7 doesn't have 5 times the capacity so it shouldn't take 8+ hours.

What were you using to charge it if you weren't using the factory charger? It'll also take longer to charge if you're using it while it's charging.

I have a couple Samsung 2. Chargers including 1 Samsung Adaptive wall Charger. So my USB cords have been updated to the newest standards because I had many cables stop working due to inferior cable or use over time or bent micro usb ending.

Tried the charger and cord that came with the S2 9.7 and still takes about 10 hours to go from 30 to full.

I've upgrwded from the Asus Nexus 7 to the S2 and found battery life to be similar and more than adequate. The S2 is designed as a light weight, thin tablet and what comes with that is a comparable batteryand other components.

Just a tip: make sure you are using the original charger and cables that came with your S2 Tab.

I have a S6 phone and S2 tab and somehow mixed up the chargers and cables at some point ( they are all white and marked the same) and noticed significantly slower cha4ge times. Once I sorted the cables and charges back to normal things were good again.

I always charge my tab overnight so the length of time to charge doesn't worry me. Somehow I only charge once a week but use me tab for about 9hrs or more and start charging at about 20%.

Putting your device into flight mode when you are asleep, using a screen dimmer and closing apps when they are not in use will greatly assist battery life. If one is streaming music/video do expect battery life to drain a lot faster than with just regular usage.

Why should you never let a lithium ion battery get below 40% before you charge it? I have read / heard that you should never let them get below 20% but not 40%?

Mine charges at a rate of about 20-30% per hour I think (I'm not really sure because I always charge overnight). If you're using the stock charger to charge it, and not using the tab while it's charging, I don't know why it would be taking so long. Have you tried shutting it off to charge it and see if that makes a difference? If so, it could be something is causing to deplete battery while it's charging, causing it to take longer. Could also just try charging in airplane mode too.

You should also be over 5 hours of use, unless the "variety of ways" that you use it are all gaming and navigating or something. I use mine all day every day at work and I average 8 hours SOT, 10 if I'm just reading stuff.

I would suggest evaluating your battery usage stats and install an app like Better Battery Stats or Wakelock Detector and see if you can figure out where there juice is going, because it might be a background app/wakelock that is causing poor battery life as well as making charging take longer. I would agree in the above suggestion of checking what the rate of charging actually is (with Ampere or something) as well, to make sure your charger is OK too.

Also, I've found that keeping Location toggled off and having WiFi set to be off when screens off makes a massive difference in idle drain (and presumably all drain), since I have my phone+watch for notifications and navigating, I disable these functions to help make the tabs battery last longer.

I tray to turn of kabel and charge. It is the same . Samsung galaxy tab s2 9,7 after 6 moths of use need 10 hours to charge for use 4 hours. It is big **** of tablet. Yo can tray whot ever you vont bat only whot you can do is tu bay new batery or new tablet . Of chors not samsung tablet
