chat bubbles - android 11

I hate bubbles. FB messenger drives me nuts with bubbles. No complaints if it doesn't work haha.

Here's a question: has anyone on Android 11....but NOT using Messages Beta seen this work yet?

It works on my Pixel 4XL, but that started as soon as I joined Messages Beta. But the Bubbles option isn't even available to select on my wife's Pixel 3a running Android 11.

My only wish is that the developers could have found a way to put the default bubble location even further out of reach from my right thumb. As it is, I only have to do 80% of a claw hand to reach it.

Ya that's a good point. From what I've researched and read, it's the beta ppl with Android 11 who have the bubble feature

Since we know it works with Messages beta version, and Google announced Bubbles as part of Android 11 my guess is that they hoped to have the Messages app update ready at the same time as Android 11 but something has delayed the app update. Just my guess.

I had Android 11 Beta 3 on my Pixel 4a and the Bubbles worked on Messages and Telegram. With A11 final it appears Google popped the bubbles.

Update: I was fiddling in Settings trying to get Chat Bubbles working. I did a a bunch of setting changes. Later, for an unrelated reason, I asked my wife to send me a Telegram msg. Lo and behold thar be Bubbles here. I know I didn't do the proper trouble shooting procedures so I don't really know what change I made. Grrr!
I'll try to retrace my steps. Maybe I'll figure it out.
Update: No Bubbles from Messages, just from Telegram. Curious.

I think there is an app update needed for Bubbles to work on Messages.

I got Bubbles to work on Messages.
First thing is to become a Messages Beta tester: https://support.google.com/messages/thread/9499609?hl=en
Then go into Play Store and install the beta version.

Then go into Messages settings; tap on Bubbles; then tap on whatever choice you want. See screenshots below. There are two more choices that aren't showing in screenshot 2.

That's the question we are trying to figure out.....does it work yet for people NOT on Messages beta? I think the answer is No. But that's kind of what we have been discussing, if it works for the non Beta Messages app version, since Google said it was part of Android 11.

I think we already have the answer to that. We also have the answer to getting bubbles on Messages (if that is important to you).
I installed the beta version on my wife's Pixel 4a and she now has bubbles.

True, I concur. You and I have both confirmed that Bubbles works on Messages when using the Beta version. It's strange though that Google stated that this was part of Android 11 in general, but yet it still doesn't work on Messages non-beta.

Get that app update pushed out for everyone Google!

There is an update for Messages Beta. Not really sure what is improved or changed. One thing I noticed in the general description is sending messages over wifi. I don't know if that is new or not but I like that feature.

Maybe Google didn't feel it was ready for the public release. Not everything that was in A11BETA3 made it into the final release.
