[Chatter] "Where everybody knows your name ..."

Well add me to the list not realizing this thread exists lol. Maybe way back I noticed it and assumed it was just a place for idle gossip and avoided it
Well take a look at that?? My silly ass bumps this from April last year and yes I honestly felt stupid for doing it but I said to myself ..... why not and now all you guys happen to stumble upon it too

I figured it's a these if whatever which is good since it'll keep me from rambling and derailing the other threads that I'm in. I'll just be sure to do that in here. I'm told just to keep it s happy place.

Easy peasy as my youngest one always says

It came about during the Nexus 6 phone which a lot of us had . A lot was about Root and Roms along with idle chat, Thus it named Chatter after Cheers the TV show and the song " everyone knows your name " Although Chatter was not its first name its the one that finally stuck

I know why. When I first joined I was in the Windows Phone forum because my first smartphone was a Nokia Lumia 520 with windows. So that would explain not being familiar with the threads on the Android side. I don't think I started to get my feet wet with an Android device until .... 2018/2019? I do remember my first Android was a used Sony I got from Swappa. I was so used to Windows phones and really liked the OS. Android OS was a little intimidating for me at first

I could see the writing on the wall with Windows so I started testing the waters with a Sony, and shortly after got an iPhone 6 to play with.

My first Android was a Nexus 7 tablet. Yes, I rooted it and installed custom ROMs. I was also dual booting Linux and Windows at the time. I still have my Android Central fastboot oem unlock hoodie.

I also started out with a Lumia 520 Windows phone after leaving my final flip phone, my wife picked us up a couple off of Amazon for $50 USD. I couldn't believe the technology we got for 50 bucks... Cortana and everything lol. Mind blowing for what I was coming from 🤯

My first Android was an LG Thrive running Froyo 2.2.2 if I remember right. Pretty basic little Android but a nice cheap way to get into the Android world 👍

I joined this site when I got my Moto X Pure Edition... that was the first phone to show me what Android was really capable of. I loved that phone, so cool for the time period 😎 It did things with Moto voice like answer/make calls hands free, send/hear texts hands free and the list goes on. So futuristic. I haven't had a phone able to do all those things until my Flip 3 and P6Pro... it was a long wait lol.

I'm glad we can all be part of the history of Android Central in this thread... very cool 😉

I still own every one of those phones... all working last I checked, plus every other phone we've ever owned except my Nokia 3360(?) blue translucent candy bar phone with the cool Christmas tree light up keyboard I installed, and snake.. my first mobile game lol.

Ahh... the memories 👍😉

Yeah made my Samsung S4 Google Play edition my HTC M8 Google Play edition and also has my Nexus 5x /6p , rooting was fun installing custom ROM or other phone features back in the day.

I really started getting to the forums and tinkering and rooting when I bought the Motorola Droid X.. I happened to come across a developer posting about having the UI in dark mode including Google apps and that was the beginning of the end for me LOL.. We were rooting and modding the phones and got into full-fledge forum discussions and then joined as moderator on Droid forums ...some great memories and now 150 phones or more later lmao here I am ....

OMG 150 phones later???? Seriously !??! I thought I was bad with a new cell every year for the past decade but that no way compares to your count!!!

I’ve had a few years where I tried a few phones and moved on haha ..ofc that number was inflated but I’m sure the count is very high ..we have many on here with those high numbers I won’t tell on them ..they know who they are lol
