Not going to selectively quote cause I'm too lazy.
His car was used, so lemon law unfortunately doesn't apply.
And plasma still owns when it comes to picture quality (and typically picture quality at a given cost as long as you're looking 46"+). Unbiased reviewers typically put plasma at the top. Most LED sets are typically better than ccfl backlit models, but that might be due to the higher price of LED sets so manufacturers can afford to put a better panel in there.
If it's not abundantly clear, I'm a huge TV snob lol
I'm not a big fan of plasma but I have been checking out the LED's. My Sharp 36" HD LCD has been very good to me. The kids growing up have put their share
of war marks on the screen over the last few years. No bad pixels or anything but the screen surface has some nice scratches in it that are driving me nuts when I'm playing Gears of War 3.
When I play gears I play to win and get all wound up in it and my display is important to me![]()
Why is this thread a sticky? Seems like more of a IRC
Lol, I'm trying to picture this wound up competitive side of you Paul, I just can't.

Oh ya.. I sit down to play some Gears its not 5 minutes or whatever... Were talking a few beers or cans of ice cold Pepsi depending on my mood and some serious cursing going down!
I've been dedicated to the Gears franchise since it started back with Gears of War in what 2008/09 I think it was...

This thread has saved probably dozens and dozens of pointless other threads from being created.
Because nexus.

That doesn't surprise me. I always thought they had a better picture quality. Just haven't really looked at TVs since I bought mine, so, I'm out of the loop. I'll have to stop in an Amazon Showroom one of these days just to see what the current state of TVs is. Or, maybe the next time in Costco I'll take a look, just to keep up on it.
Blasphemy!! Lol.

Allow me to answer your question with a follow up question.
Do the leaves ask why the wind blows? Or do fish ask why the waves roll?
Dunno if that answers the question but it rhymes I think.
So there you have it.
I can't speak for any LCD sets, as I haven't really looked at them in a long time. However, for plasma, Panasonic owns all. I've actually go two (one is a couple of years old and the other is about 3 months old). For the money, I don't believe the PQ can be beat.
I've gotten over pushing so hard for plasma. When asked for an honest recommendation (which happens often from my family friends - they all know I'm the tech fiend), I try to give facts or clearly express when a comment is pure opinion. A similar situation pops up with phones: while I would never buy an iPhone for myself, for some people it is the ideal choice. I can't stand motion artifacts on LCDs, so I'll never buy one, but for some people they are the best option.
The stuff that really drives me wild on the plasma/LCD debate is the misinformation out there. It seems most salespeople (especially at big box stores) are horribly misinformed about burn-in, energy consumption, contrast ratio, etc. I will correct that at all possible opportunities.
And isn't being computer tech support fun? I love trying to help people via phone. Nearly impossible in most cases.
Edit: Sorry, I didn't mean to double post.
